About This Pub

Ah, Ye Olde Fleece – it's one of those old-school pubs that you stumble upon and think, 'This could be a gem.' From what I've gathered chatting about it, the pints are dead cheap at just £1.80, which is brilliant if you're out for a casual night without breaking the bank. The atmosphere sounds spot on for a traditional boozer, with folks praising the warm vibes and the staff who can be absolute stars, especially if you've been a regular for years. It's got that community feel, like a place where you could settle in for a good chat or a quiet drink. On the flip side, though, it's not all rosy – some have had rough experiences with staff or the regulars coming across as a bit unwelcoming, and there are tales of the DJ being a stickler for rules, which might spoil the fun if you're hoping to sing along or let loose. Overall, if you're in Gateshead and fancy an inexpensive pint in a classic setting, it's worth a go, but maybe pop in earlier in the evening to catch it at its best. Just keep in mind, pubs like this can vary day by day, so it's all about that personal touch!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The drinks are incredibly affordable – pints for just £1.80, which is a real bargain these days!
  • It's got that classic traditional pub atmosphere, making you feel right at home with its warm and welcoming vibe.
  • The staff can be absolutely lovely, with some regulars raving about the manager and the friendly service over the years.
  • As a local spot, it's got a loyal following and a great sense of community for those who pop in regularly.
Cons
  • There have been a few complaints about rude staff and unfriendly regulars, which can really put a damper on the evening.
  • Some experiences seem hit or miss, especially later at night, with issues like the DJ being overly strict and not letting folks join in the fun.
  • It might not be the best choice if you're after a consistently welcoming spot, as a couple of reviews mentioned it feeling like a bit of a dive.
  • Recent feedback has been mixed, with one recent review being quite negative, suggesting things might have slipped a tad.

Absolute dive of a bar. Been here a few times and the staff are disgustingly rude. The "regulars" are just as rude and make it a horrid place to drink. There are far better places in the high street to enjoy a good night out whilst avoiding this absolute dive of a pub.
