About This Pub

Ah, The Tynesider, what a gem it's turned out to be on Gateshead High Street. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, Lee and Luisa have really nailed the whole pub experience – it's got that perfect mix of hearty Sunday roasts that leave you satisfied without emptying your wallet, and evenings filled with live music and DJ sets that get everyone up on their feet. I love how the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome; it's those little touches, like quick service with a smile, that make a visit memorable. The terrace out back is a nice spot for a chat on a sunny day, and the atmosphere is just spot on for catching up with mates or even having a dance. But, let's be honest, it's not without its quirks – the hours are a tad restrictive, only open five days and wrapping up early, which might put a dampener on spontaneous plans. Plus, without a phone number or a fully functioning website, sorting out the details can feel a bit hit-and-miss. Overall, though, if you're after a place that delivers on flavour, fun, and friendliness, it's well worth a visit – just keep an eye on those opening times to avoid disappointment!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, especially those Sunday lunches – think tender pork, heaps of fresh veg, and homemade gravy that's to die for, all at a price that won't break the bank.
  • The staff are an absolute delight; they're friendly, efficient, and make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got a brilliant atmosphere with regular live music, DJs, and even a legendary monthly boomers disco – perfect for a good old knees-up.
  • The venue itself is charming, with a lovely terrace at the back and a great little dance floor that adds to the fun.
  • It's a welcoming addition to Gateshead High Street, offering a proper bar experience that's hard to beat in the area.
Cons
  • The operating hours seem a bit limited, with it only open five days a week and typically closing around teatime, which might not suit those after a late-night pint.
  • There's no phone number listed, so booking a table or getting quick info could be a faff if you're trying to plan ahead.
  • The website had some issues when I checked, so you might not get all the details you need online before heading over.

Sunday lunch was outstanding! Best I’ve had in a long long time, service was efficient with a smile, food was served within 10 minutes of ordering. I opted for the pork belly which came tender but cracking was perfect! Ambience was great, cool music too! Delicious food, professional and friendly. Definitely recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
