About This Pub
Ah, Ye Olde Castle Inn, what a gem in the heart of Caergwrle – it's got that timeless pub appeal that just draws you in for a pint or two. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's spot-on for a casual get-together; the pints are reasonably priced, and there's this warm, welcoming atmosphere where you can kick back with friends, catch the latest match on the screens, or even step out to the outside area if the weather's playing nice. The staff get a thumbs-up from some for being dead friendly, which really makes the place feel like a local favourite. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect – a couple of folks have mentioned it feeling a tad squished inside, almost like there's not enough room to swing a cat, and the service can be hit or miss, depending on the day. Still, with its location near that castle, it's worth a visit if you're in the area, just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a good time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The rustic charm of Ye Olde Castle Inn really captures that traditional British pub feel, making it a cosy spot for a relaxed evening.
-
Pints are excellent value for money, so you can enjoy a proper drink without breaking the bank.
-
The staff can be lovely and welcoming, with some reviews highlighting friendly faces like Trish and Mike who add to the homely vibe.
-
It's got a great setup for sports fans, with multiple screens showing matches, perfect if you're up for watching the game with a crowd.
-
There's an outside seating area that's just the ticket on a sunny day, giving you a bit of fresh air while you chat.
Cons
-
The pub can feel a bit cramped inside, with one person noting there's more room behind the bar than for customers, which might put you off if you're after space.
-
Service isn't always spot-on; a few mentions of it being just alright, or even a bit lacking, so you might have mixed experiences.
-
It doesn't have much of an online presence, like no website, which makes it trickier to get the latest info or book ahead.
-
With only a handful of recent reviews and a dip in the latest ratings, it might not be as lively or consistent as some other spots right now.

Rustic looking pub, good value pints, more room behind the bar than the actual pub though 🤷🏻
Awesome local pub I dropped in to have a look at the castle and have a pint, I'd definitely recommend going in for a few drinks.
