About This Pub

Ah, the George & Dragon in Wrexham – it's one of those unassuming village pubs that just warms your heart when you step inside. From the reviews, it sounds like the staff really go the extra mile to make you feel welcome, with that genuine friendliness you don't always find these days. The food's a highlight too; think hearty portions of things like gluten-free fish and chips that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank. It's got a lovely cosy feel, especially with the wood burner going on a cold night, and it's great for popping in with the dog or catching up with mates over a pint. On the downside, the beer options are a tad slim, so if you're a real ale enthusiast, you might find yourself wanting more variety. And being a small local spot, it's not about glitzy extras – it's more straightforward and traditional, which suits some but not everyone. All in all, if you're after a laid-back evening in a welcoming environment, I'd say it's worth a visit, but keep expectations realistic for a quiet village gem.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in
  • They serve up some cracking food with generous portions, like delicious gluten-free options, and it's all at budget-friendly prices
  • It's a cosy spot with a warm atmosphere, complete with a wood burner for those chilly evenings
  • Dog-friendly vibes mean you can bring your four-legged friend along for the fun
  • Plenty of space for groups, and they've got thoughtful touches like helping with wheelchairs to make everyone comfortable
Cons
  • The beer selection is a bit limited and doesn't offer much variety beyond the usual choices
  • It can be inconsistent with food availability – some visits might leave you wanting more options, as it's more of a simple village pub
  • As a smaller spot, it doesn't have anything too fancy or over-the-top, so if you're after a buzzing, high-energy night, it might not hit the mark

Delicious gluten-free fish and chips today! Huge portions and excellent server working to help our group of six accommodate a wheelchair at a table. Very friendly and good prices for the portion size.

Beer selection wasn't many and not your common offerings. Boris behind the bar wasn't shy to make you welcome. Decent pool table with good views outside.

It's a small village pub. Nothing fancy, doesn't do food but has a wood burner, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.
