About This Pub
Ah, Yates York – what a spot it is, tucked away in the centre of York near the River Ouse. It's one of those places that really knows how to bring people together, whether you're popping in for a quick drink after shopping or gathering for a birthday bash. I have to say, the staff stand out as the real highlight; they're so thoughtful and on point, always keeping things running smoothly and making sure everyone's looked after. The drinks menu is spot on too, with a solid range of ales and ciders that hit the mark, and if you're into watching the footy or joining in on karaoke, it's got you covered with all the live action and events. That beer garden is just lovely for soaking up the outdoors when the weather's playing ball. On the downside, though, the place can be a bit of a maze to navigate, which might leave you scratching your head if you're not used to it, and it does tend to get pretty hectic at times, so if you're after something more low-key, it might not be your first choice. All in all, it's a solid pub for a good laugh and some quality time with friends, but it's worth going in with an open mind to get the best out of it.

-
The venue is clean and well-kept, with options for private hire and plenty of space for groups or celebrations.
Cons
-
The layout can feel a bit confusing at times, almost like it's got a Jekyll and Hyde thing going on, which might throw you off if you're not familiar with it.
-
It can get quite busy and overwhelming in parts, especially if you're after a quiet, relaxed pint rather than a high-energy atmosphere.

Yates is a large modern bar next to the river. There is a good selection of draught drinks, including two cask conditioned hand pulled real ales and two Lilly's ciders. The cask ales were in excellent condition on our visit. There is a nice outside seating area in a sheltered courtyard and a conservatory. I haven't tried the food, so I can't comment, but the staff were very welcoming, and the pub is dog friendly.
This is one of the most confusing pubs I have ever been in.Its a bit like Jekell&Hyde Or Confused.com.We went on a Tuesday(savers day)at 6pm.We had a couple of drinks on a lovely table overlooking the water,it was nice and quiet, everyone was chatting away enjoying themselves. We had a look at the menu and decided to stay for tea.We ordered around 7.45pm.Then suddenly it hit 8pm,all the lights dimmed, the music got really LOUD and it was like being inside a nightmare/nightclub.You say you are a pub of the people. What kind of people are you trying to attract. Our tea came and don't get me wrong it was lovely BUT,we couldn't wait to get out of the place so it was as quick as we could eat it instead of enjoying it.Sorry but won't rush back
Came for bottomless brunch for my mates 21st birthday and it was amazing. Staff was on point drinks kept flowing and the food was spot on. Big thank you to Sophie and Elle who brought the drinks and dealt the the group of us. Big thank you for making her day special. Will definitely be back
