About This Pub

Ah, Tank & Paddle York – it's one of those places that really pulls you in with its buzz and variety, tucked away in a prime spot near the river. From what I've gathered from folks who've been there, it's spot on for anyone after a solid pint of craft beer or a cheeky cocktail, and they've got this fantastic setup for watching live sports, which makes it a go-to for match days or just catching up with friends over the game. The staff come across as genuinely warm and attentive, always ready with a smile and quick service, even when things are hectic – it's those little touches that make a visit feel special, like during a bottomless brunch where the drinks keep flowing and the food's fresh and flavoursome. On the flip side, though, it's not without its minor niggles; you might run into the odd issue with food prep, such as a burger missing its BBQ sauce, which can put a slight dampener on things, and it does get crowded, so grabbing a table isn't always straightforward. All in all, it's a solid choice for a fun night out, but I'd say it's best to keep expectations realistic and maybe pop in midweek for a more relaxed experience – that way, you can enjoy the best bits without the rush.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The selection of craft beers and cocktails is absolutely spot on, with plenty of options to suit all tastes – it's a real treat for anyone who loves a good pint or a fancy drink.
  • Service is top-notch; the staff are friendly and go the extra mile, making you feel right at home, especially during events like bottomless brunches or watching live sport.
  • It's got a great vibe for watching the game, with dedicated TVs in some spots, and the accessibility features, like that handy lift, make it welcoming for everyone.
  • The food is fresh and tasty, with options that look tempting and hit the spot, perfect for a casual meal or celebrating something special.
Cons
  • There can be little hiccups with food orders, like missing sauces on dishes, which might leave you a bit disappointed if you're after something specific.
  • It gets pretty busy at times, especially in such a central spot, so you might have to queue or struggle to find a seat during peak hours.
  • The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent in the details shared, which could confuse folks planning a visit, though it's generally open late into the evening.

There is the most amazing lift which circumvents just four steps, doesn't seem much? It is to a wheelchair user! Well done Tank and Paddle X

Top class city centre pub if you want sport on TV and drink decent craft ale. The service is excellent for such a busy place and if you’re lucky enough to get a booth - you have your own dedicated TV 👍🏻

The Tank & Paddle is a very large pub in a great location by the river. There is a wide choice of draught beers locker and cider, including for hand pulled cask conditioned real ales and a wide choice of craft beers. The food menu looked very tempting. Although we didn't have time to eat, we will definitely be trying it on our return visit. There is a nice outside seating area overlooking the river, the staff are very friendly and welcoming its a nice pub worth visiting. Dog friendly.

No BBQ sauce with the food despite ordering a BBQ burger. Other than this, the experience was great, never left without a drink. The drink choices were the best we’ve had at a bottomless brunch. Olivia was really nice and helpful!
