About This Pub

Ah, The Midland in Wrexham – it's one of those places that really tries to be the heart of the community, you know? From what I've gathered, they've got this fantastic setup with fresh, locally sourced Welsh ingredients in their menus, whether you're after a hearty breakfast from 8:30am or something from the main lineup later in the day. The daily specials, like getting 10% off fish and chips on Fridays or a meal deal with wine, make it feel like a proper bargain for a casual get-together. And let's not forget the entertainment side – it's got Sky Sports on tap, pool tables for a bit of fun, and weekends turn into a proper party with live bands, karaoke, and even a nightclub vibe. That said, it's not all smooth sailing; I've seen a few chats online where folks mentioned waiting ages for their food or ending up with the wrong dish, which is a shame when you're looking forward to tucking in. Plus, cleanliness seems to be a sticking point in some reviews, with grubby tables or toilets that could do with a bit more attention. Overall, if you're up for a relaxed evening with mates and don't mind overlooking the odd flaw, it's worth popping in – just go in with realistic expectations and maybe check the specials first to make the most of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is fresh and made with locally sourced Welsh ingredients, which gives it that authentic, hearty feel you'd expect from a good local spot.
  • They've got a brilliant lineup of entertainment, like Sky Sports, pool, live music, karaoke, and even a nightclub atmosphere on weekends – perfect for a fun night out.
  • Daily specials and discounts, such as 10% off certain menus or deals on meals with drinks, make it an affordable option for grabbing a bite or enjoying a pint.
  • The atmosphere is welcoming and lively, with a good variety of events that bring some real energy to Wrexham town.
Cons
  • Service can be inconsistent, with some reports of long waits for food or getting the wrong order, which puts a dampener on the experience.
  • Cleanliness is a bit of an issue in places, like the toilets or tables, which might make you think twice about lingering too long.
  • Food quality isn't always reliable – a few mentions of meals arriving cold or not as expected, even if the menu sounds tempting.
  • With an average rating around 3.2, it's clear not every visit hits the mark, so it might not be the first choice for a flawless outing.

Went for mother's day lunch , they had a special menu 3 courses and I can say it was all delicious! We didn't wait long at all for our food, Excellent portion sizes , I had soup to start with, served piping hot, beef dinner which was very tasty and delicious, I was too full for a desert so I took it home with me, the staff are very friendly and nothing was to much trouble, I will definitely be back very soon, I highly recommend going here especially for Sunday dinner , I haven't tried the other menu but it looked very good,

I went to the midlands a few days ago with some friends, we went at around about 6pm, we all ordered food and drinks and it took 1 hour to come, bear in mind there’s only 3 of us. The food was warm in some parts but cold in others. The cleanliness of the place was absolutely disgusting, the tables were extremely sticky, I’m assuming they’re second hand because it looked like the plastic film on the top of them had been scratched off or worn down over the years. Not to mention the beer matts, not only were they soaking and thrown across the table, I also saw a few on the floor and various other things on the floor too, even some food. The floor was rank, there were gum imbedded in the carpet and wet patches on the floor without a wet floor sign. The bandits had fingerprint marks all over them. Not even to mention the upstairs toilets, bins hadn’t been emptied, no toilet roll, I even found a baggy near the bin. The service was ok, the staff seemed nice but looked tired and overworked, even people collecting glasses looked sick of their job. the alcohol choice was quite good and the price of food and alcohol is good too. The atmosphere was dreadful, honestly one of the worst things about the place. It’s like it’s trying to be a pub and a nightclub at the same time, even during the day. groups of people hanging outside by the door vaping - including staff. The music is too loud. The place is filled with all the people banned from all the other pubs in Wrexham and underage drinkers. I also looked up the company on Facebook and saw a few things about the owners, particularity how dodgy they are. Just avoid this place, atmosphere is terrible.

Brilliant and friendly service from staff, only waited short time and my food was out piping hot. Tried two of the specials. Yorkshire pudding wrap and Mac and cheese with crispy bacon bits. Affordable and delicious food I recommend to everyone to come in for a bite to eat.

This is a nice pub which I am glad has brought some more life into the wrexham town. In terms of good quality and food standards, I would say it is closer to a spoons. There is a difference choice of food but enough variety to fit most peoples pallets. The atmosphere is lovely as well, with it feeling like the old spoons the building used to be.
