About This Pub

You know, when I think about Wrexham Lager Sports & Social Club, it just feels like that reliable local haunt where everything comes together nicely for a good time. The staff are genuinely friendly and go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable, which really shines through in the positive vibes from folks who've popped in for a Sunday lunch or a casual pint. The food's a standout – those roast dinners and freshly prepared meals are hearty, tasty, and won't break the bank, making it a top choice if you're after something wholesome without the fuss. It's got that classic community atmosphere too, with options for darts, pool, and catching the latest sports on the telly, all while sipping on a quality selection of beers, including the historic Wrexham Lager itself. Being so close to the football ground, it's brilliant for a quick stop before or after a game, and the space is spot-on for hosting events. On the flip side, the opening hours can be a bit confusing with all those different listings, and it's not open every day, which might catch you out if you're not planning ahead. Plus, if you're after something more contemporary or a broader range of entertainment, it might feel a touch traditional. All in all, though, it's a solid spot that celebrates its heritage while delivering a warm, welcoming experience – I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area and fancy a pint with some good company.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home, with their warm welcomes and efficient service that really adds to the cosy vibe.
  • The food is a real highlight, especially those freshly cooked Sunday lunches and roast dinners – they're delicious and offer brilliant value for money.
  • It's got a fantastic community feel, perfect for enjoying a pint, chatting about sport, or having a go at darts and pool in a friendly atmosphere.
  • Being right near Wrexham's football ground makes it an ideal spot for a pre or post-match get-together, blending local heritage with great beers.
  • The venue's spacious and can host events for up to 150 people, making it versatile for celebrations or just a relaxed night out.
Cons
  • The operating hours seem a bit muddled with multiple listings for Sundays, which might leave you scratching your head about when it's actually open.
  • It's only open six days a week, so if you're planning a visit on that closed day, you'll have to find another spot to pop in for a drink.
  • While it's got a charming traditional feel, it might not be the most modern or flashy place if you're after something a bit more upscale.
  • Some might find the entertainment options, like darts and pool, a tad limited if you're looking for a wider range of activities beyond the basics.

I look forward to a visit on a weekly basis when I can enjoy a drink ,whether it be beer or a drop of red wine, and enter into conversation on most topics, from sport to changing in society. Or alteratnately a quiz or game of darts or snooker with fellow members,it offers a friendly atmosphere which can be enjoyed by all.
