About This Pub
Ah, Wishing Well Chingford – it's one of those neighbourhood pubs that feels like a proper community spot, you know? I've heard from a few who've popped in that the drinks are spot on, with pints going for under a fiver, which is brilliant for keeping things light on the wallet. The atmosphere really shines when there's live sport on, whether it's footie, rugby, or the races; it's got that buzz that draws you in for a good chat and a laugh with friends. The staff can be absolute gems too, all smiles and helpful, making you feel welcome from the get-go. But, let's be honest, it's not all rosy – there are tales of some less than friendly service, like getting the brush-off before last orders, and a couple of reviews mentioned it feeling a bit dingy with an unpleasant smell that could dampen the spirits. Still, if you're after a straightforward, no-fuss pint in Chingford, it's worth a go, just go in with an open mind and maybe avoid peak times if you're after a seat. All in all, it's got that classic pub charm, but with a few areas that could use a bit of TLC to make it even better for everyone.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The drinks are incredibly affordable – you can get a pint of Fosters for under £3, which is a real bargain these days.
-
It's got a welcoming atmosphere, especially if you're into watching live sports like football, rugby, or horse racing on the telly.
-
The staff can be really friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home, as a few folks have mentioned.
-
They've got a good selection of drinks and some cracking offers, perfect for a casual catch-up with mates.
Cons
-
There have been a few complaints about rude service, like being turned away before closing time even if it's not that late.
-
Some people found the place a bit dark and gloomy, with an off-putting smell that might put you off your pint.
-
It can feel unwelcoming at times, with stories of uneven treatment that leave a sour taste.
-
Tables might be hard to come by if the regulars have staked their claim, so you could end up standing around.

I was there last night Sunday 16th March really lovely pub really nice lady behind the bar cheap pint as well under £3 for Fosters excellent. I was wearing the green jacket in the blue jogging bottoms and I’m playing pool with some fella who was very drunk, and we are sitting talking and out of nowhere he gets aggressive, because I didn't offer to buy him a drink. So he says I'm getting angry now. So i said sorry for upsetting him and left. so hopefully you know sometimes people get like that they take it home so I hope whoever is at home was fine. maybe the bar staff can take a look at CCTV? See what I’m talking about and call their family and make sure they’re okay. but beyond that, I really enjoyed it. Great pub and highly recommend it.

Rude, told us last order was 22:45 and it was 22:30 and then followed up with I’m choosing to close the pub. Just didn’t want to serve us but was happy to serve people already there. Seems racist I’d avoid
Dark and gloomy. Bad smell. Not a nice place.
Very nice service. Nice atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly. I recommend

Lovely, friendly local. Decent Guinness. Very reasonable prices. If you like your racing and football, even better. Good luck getting a table though as the regulars are always in there. :)
