About This Pub
Ah, the Greene Man – it's one of those pubs that really feels like a local gem in London, tucked away in Chingford with parks just around the corner. I have to say, what stands out most is the lively vibe, especially if you're into watching the footie or any big sports events; they've got the screens set up just right, and it's brilliant for events like the Women's Euros. The food is another highlight – think generous portions of classics like bangers and mash that hit the spot, and at such reasonable prices, it's easy to pop in for a quick bite without breaking the bank. The staff are usually spot on, quick with service and making you feel welcome, which adds to that homely feel. On the flip side, I've heard a couple of tales where things weren't quite as cheerful, like staff having a laugh at the wrong moment, which could put a dampener on your evening. And watch out for the opening hours; they might not always align with what you expect, so it's worth double-checking. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual meet-up with mates, offering good value and a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces, but like any pub, it's not flawless – still, I'd recommend giving it a go for a balanced night out.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is spot on for catching the game, with well-placed TVs and solid sound that really gets you into the spirit of things.
-
The food is hearty and delicious, like those perfectly seasoned bangers and mash – and don't miss the 'Tuck in for a tenner' deals, which are an absolute bargain for weekday feasts.
-
Staff are generally welcoming and efficient, making you feel right at home as soon as you step in.
-
It's spacious with plenty of amenities, including a lovely beer garden, ample parking, and even a snooker table for a bit of fun after your meal.
-
Being inexpensive, it's a great spot for everyday get-togethers, whether it's for breakfast, lunch, or an evening out, and it's conveniently located near parks and other local attractions.
Cons
-
There have been a few instances where the staff's banter felt a bit off, like when they were laughing sarcastically, which could make you feel uncomfortable.
-
Sometimes the closing times might not match what's online, leading to a rushed visit if you're popping in late.
-
While most experiences are positive, the odd negative moment stands out, suggesting it might not always hit the mark for everyone.

If you're after a proper pint, hearty food, and a lively sports atmosphere, this pub ticks all the boxes. The TVs are well-placed with solid sound, making it a top spot for catching the game without missing a moment.
But the real standout? The bangers & mash. Perfectly seasoned sausages, creamy mash, and a rich onion gravy that brings it all together—comfort food done right. Whether you're there for the Premier League or just craving a classic British dish, this place delivers. Friendly staff and a cozy, no-nonsense vibe round it out. Highly recommend for sports fans and food lovers alike.

I cannot rave about this place anymore, the food it so delicious !!! The service is absolutely amazing so quick, hot and all round great place. I will be raving about this place forever, it’s an absolute gem. Don’t change anything 🙏🙏
Went for a quick drink on a Friday night with 2 friends at 11 as saw online that it closes at 12 am. While getting drinks they were sarcastically laughing between eachother about having more customers in the last hour than the whole day which made us uncomfortable as they were loud to make us here. It was a very hostile environment where we didn’t feel welcome and honestly felt bullied. We were told to only get one drink and leave as they are closing the bar which is fine we only wanted to have one. We sat for about 15 minutes until one of the staff rudely shouted from afar ‘finish up you need to go we are closed thanks’ in the most rude manner. They were so disrespectful from the get go, said they can’t give mint or lemon as they don’t want to cut any at that time. We felt like we were kicked out so just left our drinks almost completely full, as we left they sarcastically said have a good night. Atrocious place and really nasty people will never go again.
Lovely spacious pub, with a nice atmosphere. It has ample parking, a pleasant beer garden, and good amenities inside including a nice snooker table.
We ordered food and drink inside the pub using the Greene King app, and the service was really fast. The food was great, with very nice portions all around. Staff were attentive and we had a good time. We will be back!
