About This Pub

Ah, The Kings Ford – it's one of those reliable Wetherspoon spots that I've heard plenty about from folks who've popped in regularly. From what the reviews say, it's spot on for anyone after a budget-friendly pint or a hearty breakfast without breaking the bank; that £2.26 for a perfect Abbots Ale sounds like a steal, doesn't it? The atmosphere is just what you'd expect from a proper pub – lively and unpretentious, ideal for catching up with friends over a drink or two. The staff really shine through, with regulars singing praises for the manager and the team's helpful nature, making every visit feel a bit more personal. Service is another plus; it's quick and efficient, which is a godsend when you're in the mood for something straightforward. On the flip side, though, food can be a mixed bag – one review had a nightmare with a pizza that was more edge than topping, so it might not be the place to go if you're after a gourmet meal. Still, for what it is, it's a solid choice for a casual night out, as long as you keep expectations realistic and focus on the strengths. All in all, it's worth a visit if you're in the area and fancy a no-fuss pint with good company.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The prices are absolutely brilliant – it's a Wetherspoon, so you get cracking value for money on drinks and food, like a pint for just over £2!
  • The staff are top-notch; regulars rave about the manager and how helpful and welcoming everyone is, making you feel right at home.
  • It's got that classic pub atmosphere, perfect for unwinding with mates over a few drinks and some decent grub.
  • Service is quick and efficient, especially if you're popping in for a breakfast or a casual bite.
  • The place is always clean and tidy, which makes for a more enjoyable visit overall.
Cons
  • Food quality can be a bit dodgy at times; one person mentioned their pizza was a right mess, with toppings only in the middle and nothing on the edges.
  • It might feel a tad crowded or shared with others, as it's a busy spot where tables can get lively with different groups.

Food was horrible, we ordered 3 starter deal, margarita pizza, halloumi and chips. Halloumi and chips was okay. However the pizza was like a drained lake, the pizza sauce and the cheese was just around the center, nothing towards the edges. Otherwise classic Wetherspoon. Just go for drinks.

£2.26 for a perfect pint of Abbots Ale is outstanding in outer London. Then you have the excellent breakfast menu, superb value for money. Efficient and super quick service, ok it was just after 11am. Yes there might be the odd customer sharing your space, making the most of the pay once for tea/coffee and stay all day and see Wetherspoons as a community centre, but why not? You don’t even have to get off your arse to order your next drink; if you use the app, and why wouldn’t you; free Wifi! Update Nov ‘24, I’ve had steak here a few times now, usually the Sirloin which is always excellent, last time was the Ribeye, although perfectly cooked to my liking, the flavour wasn’t all that, a wee bit disappointing compared to the sirloin. Well I have just finished another Ribeye and it was delicious, great sear, juicy and bags of flavour. Washed down with a large Grant Burge Barossa Ink Shiraz, (£11.00 in Tesco/Sainsbury’s). Superb! 😀
