About This Pub
Oh, Whites Tavern – it's one of those places that just captures the heart of Belfast, isn't it? Picture yourself stepping into this historic gem, Belfast's oldest tavern, where the walls seem to whisper stories of the past while you settle in for a proper night out. The atmosphere is so inviting and lively, with live music that gets everyone tapping their feet and chatting away like old mates. The food really steals the show; I've heard rave reviews about the steak that's cooked to perfection, the fish and chips that's light and crispy, and that comforting Irish stew that hits the spot on a chilly evening. And let's not forget the drinks – they've got a cracking selection to pair with it all. The staff are an absolute delight, always on hand with a friendly word or recommendation, making you feel right at home. But, fair's fair, it can get a bit hectic; the place is on the smaller side, so you might have to queue for a table, especially on busier nights, and that could put a damper on things if you're not in the mood for a wait. Still, for anyone looking for an authentic pub experience with great grub and a welcoming crowd, I'd say it's well worth popping in – just go with the flow and you'll have a brilliant time!

Went here the first day we were at Belfast recommended by our hotel hostess. The place is small with a very lively atmosphere, we had to wait for a while to get seats but it was well worth it. The food is AMAZING. It kind of ruined it for us because even though the food at other places was good, none came even close to this place :) My sister had the traditional Irish Stew that we tried elsewhere and none came close to it. The meat just melts in your mouth and it is an explosion of flavors. I had the braised beef cheek and it was DELICIOUS. The staff is super kind (like all the wonderful Irish people) even though they were super busy. It is a tavern but is family friendly. It was a great start for our trip. Just go, you won’t be disappointed.
Phenomenal. Cozy, warm and welcoming atmosphere, and even friendlier staff and service. The food was incredible, with perfectly cooked steak and sides. Cannot recommend higher. Will definitely be coming back!!
We went there twice during our stay in Belfast. Highly recommend a visit - people are super friendly, and we had very yummy food (Fish and Chips and Irish Stew) and drinks. Great live music as well!
The real deal. Best pub we went to in Belfast. Impressive food too. The beef cheeeks were tender, the fish and chips fluffy. Would recommend a visit. Oldest tavern in Belfast.
A charming and historic tavern with great atmosphere!
We visited during Thanksgiving and were thrilled to see turkey on the menu! It was a great experience to visit one of the oldest taverns in Belfast, and the atmosphere truly lived up to its reputation. A very charming and welcoming place—perfect for a cozy meal!
