About This Pub
Ah, the Waggon Inn – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its warm welcome and top-notch grub, like those incredible tapas or a solid Sunday lunch that hits the spot after a busy week. I've heard from folks that the staff go out of their way to make you feel at ease, and that beer garden is just the ticket for a sunny afternoon chat with friends. On the flip side, it's not all perfect; there are times when the food doesn't quite live up to expectations, with a few complaints about dry meats or overly saucy ribs that might leave you wishing for better consistency. And, fair play, there was that one run-in with the chef that sounded a bit tense, so it's probably best to keep things light if you're there for a meal. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out in Rochdale, as long as you go in with realistic hopes and maybe plan ahead for busier times – I'd say it's worth a visit for the good bits alone!

Cons
-

There have been a couple of instances where service got a tad heated, like with the chef getting defensive over a dessert issue.
-
It can get quite busy, so you might need to book ahead to avoid any hassle, especially if you're popping in for a meal.

Lovely pub. Very popular. Great food and the staff are lovely. Don't forget to book if you're eating. We were fortunate as it was quiet on Wednesday lunchtime. Good car park. Recommended.
So overwhelmed by the incredible Tapas, we forgot to take photos but every bite was immaculate. Pork cheeks, patatas bravas, chicken wings, meatballs, prawns pil pil, warm bread, olives and dips. Best tapas I've had anywhere in the world.
Eton Mess Sundaes were amazing too. Well definitely be back! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
First time got the homemade cheese and onion pie with chips and beans was OK. Second time opted for the chicken and rib combo . Chicken was dry and re heated and ribs was laced In too much bbq sauce to sweet didn't rate the quality as much as whats around locally.
We decided to visit here for Mother’s Day for a Sunday lunch. After enjoying our meal we decided to order desserts - one of which was sent back due to the crème brûlée tasting different to what we have had in the past. We were then met with the chef himself who became very irate and defensive over the desert, shouting and yelling at us. We did not receive one apology and were treated disgustingly. After paying we were pushed out of the doors by the chef (continuously shouting abuse at myself and my family). Considering this was a special day, the pub was empty and now we know why! Would not recommend at all.
Had a fabulous, very tasty, lunch today. Very friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and a nice warm temperature. Definitely on our list for a revisit. Thank you, we have had a stressful time recently so this was very much appreciated.
