About This Pub

Ah, the Vine Inn in Dunham Massey – it's one of those pubs that just warms your heart from the moment you step inside. I've got to say, the beers are a real highlight; they're all from Samuel Smith, and they're so well-kept that you'd be mad not to try a few. Pair that with some seriously good food – think comforting classics like homemade chicken and mushroom pie or fish and chips that hit the spot – and you've got a winner on your hands. The staff are lovely too, always up for a friendly chat and making sure everything runs smoothly. It's in such a picturesque spot that you could easily spend the afternoon soaking it all in. On the downside, it's a shame they don't allow dogs, especially out in the countryside where it's so common to see them around; that might put off a few mates who like to bring their four-legged friends. All in all, it's a cracking place for a relaxed get-together, just keep in mind that it's best suited for those after a traditional vibe rather than something flashy.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely brilliant – all from Samuel Smith brewery, with fabulous ales, lagers, and ciders that make it well worth the trip.
  • The food is spot on; reviewers rave about hearty dishes like liver and mash, homemade pies, and fish and chips with proper mushy peas – it's all cooked to perfection.
  • The staff are incredibly welcoming and attentive, creating a real homely vibe that makes you feel right at ease.
  • It's set in a beautiful countryside location, perfect for a relaxing pint and a chat in a charming, traditional pub atmosphere.
  • It's a popular spot with locals, buzzing with that genuine community feel that keeps people coming back.
Cons
  • No dogs allowed, which is a bit of a letdown in such a rural area where so many folks have well-behaved pets they'd love to bring along.
  • It might not suit everyone if you're after a more modern pub experience, as it's quite traditional and sticks to the classics without much variety in drinks beyond Samuel Smith brews.

The beer is phenomenal. Big blast from the past for me growing up in Sheffield, so very near to a lot of Sam Smith pubs. Finding one thats now my local here is a God send. Very popular with locals. Great inside out. Highly recommend 👌

The only issue is that we live in the middle of the country side surrounding this old fantastic pub. But! There are no dogs allowed. I have friends that would come more often me too! But not without my well trained dog. Come on get real in the country 98% of the locals have dogs. Increase your turn over by 54%.

Was staying at the house next door to The Vine for a family celebration, went into The Vine for food and drinks and the food was excellent, good selection of drinks at reasonable prices. John and his wife run a lovely pub in a beautiful setting and John was very attentive, friendly and welcoming to us. Would definitely recommend and pop back in if in the area again

‘Wandering Wednesday’ this took Hubby and I out to ‘The Vine’ a country pub in Dunham Massey, on the outskirts of Warrington. Neil had fish, chips and mushy peas with tartare sauce. I had Homemade chicken and mushroom pie, with mash and fresh veggies, with a side of chips to share…… ‘proper chips’ they were gorgeous. All the food was piping hot and tasty it twas too…. No waiting, just cooking time. The lady behind the bar and who served our lunch was friendly and very polite.
