About This Pub
Oh, what a treat the Swan with Two Nicks is – it's got that quintessential English pub feel, tucked away in a peaceful spot between Lymm and Altrincham, where you can unwind with a pint of something local after a brisk walk. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the food is a real highlight; folks rave about the delicious mains like pork loin in peppercorn sauce or salmon, and it's clear the desserts are a winner too. The staff come across as genuinely warm and attentive, making every visit feel personal, and it's brilliant that dogs are so welcome – ideal for those of us who like to bring the pooch along. On the flip side, while most experiences are top-notch, there have been a few mentions of things like vegetables not being as fresh as they'd like, and it does pay to plan ahead since it gets popular and closing times aren't set in stone. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed meal or drink, with that 4.4 rating speaking volumes about the good times had by many, but keeping an eye on the little details will make your visit even better.

Some dishes might not be quite up to scratch, like the vegetables that could do with being fresher on occasion.

Good beer, delicious food, friendly staff, great location. Dogs very welcome. One of my favourite pubs.
Today Hubby had sticky beef stir fry and I had pork loin in peppercorn sauce.
One of our favorite pub lunch spots when we are walking. Nice places to sit inside and out, excellent selection of drinks and hearty pub food. I had the Steak and Kidney Pudding last weekend which was superb and I hope it becomes a regular feature on the menu. Would definitely recommend!
Short walk from Dunham Massy, far better value and more authentic than the cafe on sight.
A great dog-friendly country pub tucked down the end of a lane near to Dunham Massey. Plenty of seating inside and out. Lovely local beer selection and good traditional atmosphere.
Ate on a July Saturday as table of five, eating mains and puddings. Every main was absolutely fantastic! I ate the chicken, leek and bacon in creamy white wine sauce. This really was delicious! The kids had the chicken and chorizo pasta, with the kitchen making a smaller portion for my youngest, which was good. This was fantastic again - the sauce was really tasty with plenty of meat too.
For dessert it was, unfortunately, a little underwhelming after the 5* mains. I ordered the Belgium waffle. While the Cheshire ice cream was great and very generous in portion, the waffle was poor - I suspect one of those generic packet/frozen ones that are all too common sadly. My eldest had chocolate cake, which looked lovely and rich and youngest had ice cream.
The staff were really lovely up to and during the meal but, after the bill came, we were left hanging around for quite a while trying to pay.
Definitely will return as the main dishes were amazing and want to try some of the other menu choices.
After enjoying a delightful stroll in the local area, we arrived at the establishment. Despite not having made a reservation, we managed to secure a table. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance to guarantee availability.
For my meal, I opted for the chicken dish which was incredibly flavorful, accompanied by leeks and veggies. Meanwhile, my partner decided to have a light snack and ordered the Nachos starter. The portion size was quite generous, as evident from the picture, and could easily serve as a main course. It offered excellent value for money.
Overall, the food was delicious, and the service provided by the staff members was exceptionally friendly, efficient, and pleasant. I would certainly consider returning in the future.
Please note that if you choose to utilise their carpark, it is free of charge. However, it is essential to register your vehicle upon arrival.
Traditional style pub building.
Lots of parking available at the back.
The place was lovely and warm with the weather being freezing outside.
I had the salmon which was very nice. Vegetables could have been fresher.
Desserts were excellent.
