About This Pub
Ah, the Vine Inn – it's one of those gems tucked away in the Clent Hills that just feels like a proper escape from the hustle and bustle. From what I've gathered chatting about places like this, the food really steals the show; think fresh fish specials that change with the seasons and hearty traditional dishes that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank. It's got that classic country inn charm, with a relaxed setting that's perfect for unwinding after a countryside stroll, and they're ace about welcoming dogs in the lounge area, which is a nice touch if you're out with your four-legged friend. The drinks menu is another winner, packed with local brews and ciders that pair brilliantly with the grub. On the flip side, though, it can get a bit busy, leading to waits for your meal, and the dog space is limited, so you'd want to book ahead to secure a spot. Plus, the hours aren't always straightforward, so it's best to check before heading out. All in all, it's a solid choice for a memorable pub experience – the kind of place where you leave with a smile, but just remember to plan around those little quirks to make the most of it.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – fresh fish dishes and traditional pub favourites like game pie are real highlights, with plenty of rave reviews about how tasty everything is.
-
It's got that cosy, welcoming atmosphere you'd expect from a traditional English country inn, perfect for relaxing after a walk in the Clent Hills.
-
They're super dog-friendly in the lounge, which is great if you're out with your furry mate, and they even encourage you to let them know in advance.
-
The drink selection is brilliant, with a good range of local ales, wines, and ciders that really hit the spot.
-
Service is top-notch, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home, as several folks have mentioned in their feedback.
Cons
-
There might be a bit of a wait for your food at times, like with those sandwiches that took a while in one review, so it's worth keeping that in mind if you're in a rush.
-
The dog-friendly area only has a few tables, so booking ahead is probably a good idea if you want to avoid disappointment.
-
Opening hours can seem a tad confusing from what's listed, and it looks like they might not be open every evening, which could limit your options for a spontaneous visit.
-
While it's generally lovely, some might find it a bit out of the way if you're not already in the Clent Hills area, so planning your trip could take a bit of effort.

Great service. Food really tasty. Cosy atmosphere. Just perfect!
Went yesterday afternoon for a birthday family meal . Couldent fault anything . Plus the best beer ive ever found was in here ... Butty Bach ... superb drink . Obviously going again .
I've been to this pub since I was a child. Not always on horseback, but many a time. The staff are fabulous and helpful. No problem with you parking your horse rather than car 😉 🐴
There's seating outside by the carpark and a little stream. The horses love having a munch of grass, and my friend and I enjoyed a well-earned drink.
Please note - only sat on the horse for the pic without my riding hat. I always ride with safety equipment. My shirt is high visibility.
The local residents are superb around the lanes with horses and following the highways code.
Sunday lunch, 2 course and 3 course menu deal which is great for the quality of food. Lovely, cosy little pub that is perfect place for a roast after walking the Clent Hills. Very dog friendly which is great, although the dog friendly area only has a few tables so probably best to book. There are a lot of outside tables if sunny. Puddings were delicious, recommend the bread and butter pudding!
Loved this place. Amazing fish & super crispy chips! Two pints of Butty Bach were also spot on.
We waited very little time for ours, but the people at the next table seemed to have a long wait for their sandwiches.
Will definitely go again.
Thank you Vine Inn.
