About This Pub
Ah, The Holly Bush – what a gem it's shaping up to be after its recent reopening! From what I've gathered from the buzz around, it's got this lovely old-school charm that's been given a subtle modern nudge, making it just the right spot for a relaxed catch-up over a pint. The food's a real highlight; folks are raving about the tasty cobs and hearty specials, all at prices that won't break the bank, which is always a win in my book. It's got a cracking 4.5 rating, with recent reviews singing its praises for the warm welcome and great value. But, to be fair, it's still in that soft opening stage, so you might find things a tad simple at first, and it could be hit or miss if you're expecting something extraordinary – one or two have said it's fine for a casual drop-in but not worth going out of your way for. Overall, if you're in the area, I'd say give it a go; it's got that community feel that's hard to beat, and with the team working hard to get everything sorted, I'm optimistic it'll only get better from here.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – reviewers rave about the pork and stuffing cobs, ham egg and chips, and other home-cooked specials, all at great value prices.
-
It's got that perfect blend of traditional charm and a fresh modern twist, making it a cosy spot to relax with a pint of good beer.
-
The team seems really welcoming and enthusiastic, especially with the recent reopening, and it's clear they're putting in the effort to get things right.
-
With a solid 4.5 rating from plenty of folks, it's clear this place has built up a loyal following for its friendly vibe and affordable grub.
Cons
-
It's still in its soft opening phase, so things might feel a bit basic at first, with the full menu not quite ready yet.
-
Some say it's nice enough for a quick stop if you're nearby, but not compelling enough to make a special trip out for.
-
There aren't many details on operating hours, which could be a hassle if you're planning a visit and want to know when it's open.
-
A few reviews hint that it might not live up to everyone's expectations right away, as it's under new ownership and still settling in.

I just want to say a massive thanks to the new owners who have work very hard to get this pub up and running again. We came in to try the pork and stuffing cob and what can I say , it was the best pork and stuffing cob I have had and the price was very good to . 10 out of 10 guys well done. Will be visiting alot of times now.
Quite new. It's OK but not compelling. Good to call in if passing but wouldn't go out of my way to go again.
Noticed on Facebook they were reopening today so thought we would pop in and have a look…….what a treat, lovely old pub that they have managed to give a modern twist to but it’s definitely kept its character. Ordered ham egg and chips and faggots and mash, both meals were excellent. Well done keep up the good work
My favourite pub. But currently closed (Jan 2025) for refurbishment under new ownership. Hope the refurb doesn't soil the pubs unique old fashioned feel. 🤞
Happened on this lovely pub by chance.
Arrived at 20.15 and they were still serving food, one spare table and I had a lovely great value meal.
Cider was lovely and great value as well!!!
