About This Pub

Ah, the Victoria Pub & Kitchen in Bath – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? I popped in based on what I've heard from mates, and it's got that warm, unpretentious charm right near Victoria Park, ideal for a relaxed catch-up over a pint or a bite. The food really shines; they've nailed the pub classics with fresh, homemade twists, and it's brilliant to see gluten-free options that actually taste fantastic – no skimping there. The drinks menu is a winner too, with everything from well-kept ales to creative cocktails, and they've got you covered for non-alcoholic picks if you're driving or just fancy something lighter. The staff are the real stars, always up for a chat and making sure everyone's sorted, which adds to the cosy atmosphere. But, to keep it real, it's not perfect – I've seen a few comments about waits for food dragging on, especially if it's not even packed, and there was that one tale of disappointing burgers with dodgy toppings, which is a shame when the rest is so good. Overall, it's a solid spot for a good time in Bath, and I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, just maybe check the timings first to avoid any hitches. It's all about that balance, isn't it?

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is spot on – think freshly made pub classics with plenty of gluten-free options, and I've heard their fish and chips and brownies are top-notch for those with dietary needs.
  • The staff are an absolute delight, always friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home whether you're popping in for a quick pint or a full meal.
  • They've got a cracking selection of drinks, from cask ales and gins to cocktails and non-alcoholic choices, plus teas and coffees if you're after something milder.
  • The atmosphere is just lovely – a relaxed, local vibe near Victoria Park, perfect for unwinding, and they've even got free WiFi if you fancy working from there.
  • It's conveniently located and open most days with flexible hours, making it easy to drop by for a roast or a casual drink after a stroll.
Cons
  • Service can sometimes drag on, like one person mentioned waiting ages for their food even when it wasn't too busy, which might put a dampener on things.
  • There have been a few gripes about food quality slipping occasionally, such as stale buns or wilted lettuce on burgers, so it might not always hit the mark.
  • While it's generally buzzing, the varying opening times could catch you out if you're planning a visit, especially midweek when it starts later.

Cant fault this place at all! We arrived into Bath from Cornwall late Sunday and booked a table requesting a roast. We spoke to a lovely lady who called me to say that they were selling out on roasts fast so we though she was calling to say they had ran out, but instead called to take a pre order for what we liked with our roast! Amazing service! The food was incredible. All lovely. Definitely will visit when back in Bath!

After waiting nearly an hour for our food—despite the pub being far from busy—we were finally served what can only be described as disappointing burgers, complete with stale buns and wilted, possibly spoiled lettuce. When we raised our concerns with the waitress, we were informed that the manager was not available. While she did offer a 25% discount, this was ironically after applying a 10% service charge for what was essentially nonexistent service. A thoroughly disappointing experience from start to finish. We won’t be returning.

A fantastic find very close to Bath centre but far away enough... I love this place, it had the local feel with a welcome that was unassuming. The beer we had was Stone Daisy, very tasty and well worth the £4.95 let’s face it it’s in the city so not bad! Food was very good and the price was very reasonable, surprisingly (and I compare pubs) fish and chips £16 in comparison to 18 - 20 so see the comparison. I had the Tagliatelle (chicken) fantastic and exactly what you would expect, the wifee, pie and raved about the mash , turns out it’s all home made so very happy £34 ish for food which we looked at the desert but will have to return. The important bits are Staff really friendly and on the ball. Dog friendly, perfect! Pub was spotless and looked great. On the whole I would recommend a fantastic find. Revisit last night, we all enjoyed the food and drinks, desert was the best thank you!
