About This Pub
Ah, the Three Bears – it's one of those pubs that really grows on you once you step inside. I've got to say, the food is a highlight; whether it's a hearty Sunday lunch with tender beef and fresh veggies, or those small plates that hit the spot, everything comes out piping hot and full of flavour. The staff are gems too, always up for a chat and quick to sort you out, even on a packed evening like Valentine's. It's spot-on for special occasions, with that function room making it easy to host everything from weddings to casual get-togethers, and the live music adds a nice touch if you're up for some entertainment. But, on the flip side, it can feel a bit lacking in atmosphere sometimes – you know, that cosy pub charm that makes you linger. And while the beers are decent, it's a pity if the bar team doesn't dive into more descriptions beyond the basics. Oh, and if you're popping in on a busy day, be prepared for a wait; it might not be ideal if you're in a rush. All in all, it's a reliable choice for a good meal and a catch-up, with plenty of potential to shine even brighter.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is absolutely spot on – think tender roasts, beautifully presented dishes, and generous portions that leave you satisfied.
-
Staff are always friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home, especially when they squeeze you in on a busy night.
-
It's a brilliant spot for gatherings, with a function room perfect for weddings, christenings, or just a casual celebration, plus they offer a variety of menus and even live music to liven things up.
Cons
-
The atmosphere can feel a tad flat at times, missing that extra buzz to really draw you in.
-
Some staff aren't the best at chatting about the beers – it's a shame when they just say 'it's bitter' without more detail.
-
You might face a wait for your meal during peak hours, which can be a bit frustrating if you're hoping for a quick bite.

Needs some atmosphere and staff that can describe beer better than 'its bitter'.
So much potential though, and the beer was good
Had a pleasant Valentine meal this evening at 3 Bears Good menu, with a good choice to pick from.
Food cooked and presented beautifully.
Lovely service and good atmosphere.
We will defentely eat there again.
Thankyou to all staff.
We had a lovely experience this evening. We hadn't booked and they were extremely busy but managed to fit us in. The staff were all friendly and attentive. The food was good, piping hot and large portions. Will definitely go again
First time visiting The Three Bears today fur Sunday Lunch since being taken over by Peruga.
The food was excellent, lovely tender and tasty beef cooked to your liking with roasted root vegetables, mange tout and long stem broccoli. I opted for a side of cauliflower cheese which was very nice too and my son had a side of pigs in blankets with his roast pork which was delicious.
Sticky toffee pud for dessert was lovely too and overall the meal was as near to home cooked as I’ve had at a pub.
Service was good and professional, a bit of warmth and engagement would have improved the rating.
Really nice decor and tables well spaced out meaning you have privacy and are not on top of each other
We will return and would recommend others to give it a try 👍
Seven of us went to the Three Bears Saturday 7 March. Two had carveries the rest had other meals. We had to wait fifty minutes for our meals, they were very busy but it seems a long time.
The meals were mainly good, but I had the fish which unfortunately was over cooked and dry. The two that had Carvery said the meals were very good but Yorkshire Pudding while very big was far too hard to cut or enjoy.
When I went to the toilet I found that the seat had a blue residue on it. Looking above the seat there is a PHS machine on the wall and the liquid from it was trickling down towards the seat.
The ladies in our party said their toilet was not clean.
