About This Pub
Ah, The Crown – it's one of those pubs that really hits the spot for a laid-back evening out. From what I've gathered from the reviews and the website, it's got that classic British pub charm with attentive staff and a spacious interior where you can kick back with a quiet pint or join in the fun with pool and darts. The beer garden is a real treat, especially on a sunny day, and it's brilliant that it's family and dog-friendly, making it easy to pop in with the kids or the pooch. The food sounds delicious too – think hearty Sunday roasts with loads of veg and dessert choices that leave you satisfied. Plus, with live sports on the screens, it's a top spot if you're into watching the game over a good meal and a drink. On the flip side, though, parking's a bit of a nuisance; one chap had a nightmare with a hefty invoice for not registering his car, so I'd advise keeping an eye on that to steer clear of any stress. And while it's generally buzzing, it can be quiet at times, which might not suit if you're after a more vibrant night. Overall, it's a solid choice for a casual meet-up, and with an average rating of 4 out of 5, most folks seem to leave with a smile – just go in prepared for the little quirks!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is just lovely – it's a proper traditional pub with a warm, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home.
-
They serve an excellent pint of cask beer, and the food is spot on, especially those tasty Sunday roasts with plenty of veggies and options like beef or ham.
-
It's super family-friendly and dog-friendly, so you can bring the little ones or your furry mate along without any fuss.
-
There's a great big beer garden and outdoor seating area, perfect for enjoying a drink in the fresh air, plus it's wheelchair accessible which is always a plus.
-
They show live sports on multiple screens, and you've got fun activities like pool, darts, and even a bowling green to keep things entertaining.
Cons
-
Parking can be a real headache – one person mentioned getting hit with a £100 invoice for not registering their car, so it's worth double-checking that when you visit.
-
It might feel a bit quiet on some evenings, like one review noted it was empty on a Saturday night, which could dampen the buzz if you're after a lively crowd.
-
There have been occasional mentions of rowdy behaviour, such as folks not following the rules, which might spoil the experience now and then.

Traditional well kept pub with a Traditional atmosphere. Nice surroundings with attentive staff
Very nice pub with a nice pool table and a good atmosphere.
The pub was empty on Saturday night. Called in for quick soft drink on way home. Didn't notice any need to register car reg. I have received a £100 invoice (not a fine) for not entering my car reg, threatening letter from a private firm. The Crown works in conjunction with parking gangsters 'Smart' Parking Ltd to extort as much money out of visitors as possible. Have appealed as was there for just over 10 minutes as a client of the business (they all have 10 min grace period) and appeal rejected by this openly brazen gang of thieves. Never going there again as the invoice is far more than a check on car park abuse - it's a cynical and exorbitant mugging of the punters. If the pub treats its customers so badly it conspires in this , it doesn't deserve and doesn't look like it's got many.
I was part of a birthday party today (Sunday 9th June). I had chicken Sunday roast, then apple crumble with ice cream. We had choice of beef and ham, and about 4 other dessert choices. Loads of lovely vegetables on every table. could have done with something to serve the veggies with at the tables, but food was excellent. Servers very pleasant and as quick as they could be with about 18 people to serve more or less together.
Haven’t been before to sample ‘ordinary menu’ but will definitely be doing so very soon. I live about 5 minutes walk from The Crown. I’ll guess the cost of the meal per person at £1-10 as it was already paid for.
Was great just got home now, the three ladies serving everyone were amazing, only issue I have is drunken people not listening to the staff or the guidance/rules. Great fun 2hrs and 6 pints 😃
