About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about The Woodlands Bar & Grill – it's one of those places that really grows on you once you're inside. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the food is spot on; think fresh, crunchy falafel or hearty lamb palak with rice and garlic naan that's so plentiful you might need a doggy bag. It's all about that homemade quality and great value, making it a brilliant choice for a casual night out with friends. The staff stand out too – they're proper welcoming and keep things upbeat, even on busier evenings, which adds a nice touch to the whole experience. On the flip side, you might find yourself waiting a bit longer than expected if it's packed, so it's worth planning ahead if you're peckish. And honestly, the place can be a bit subdued at times, like if you go in the early afternoon, which isn't ideal for those wanting a buzzing atmosphere. Plus, the building's a bit understated from the street, with the entrance hidden away, so it could take a moment to find. All in all, it's a solid pick for anyone after good, honest grub in Smethwick, especially with that impressive 4.7 rating – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but keep those little niggles in mind for a balanced visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely delicious and satisfying, with fresh, crunchy options like falafel bowls and generous portions that leave you feeling full – even my mate's teenage son couldn't finish his!
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always keeping things cheerful even when it's busy, which makes the whole experience feel warm and inviting.
-
It's great value for money, offering high-quality dishes like lamb palak, garlic naan, and vege grills at prices that won't break the bank.
-
The environment is spotlessly clean, and they've got a good range of options, including plenty for vegetarians, so it's easy to find something everyone enjoys.
Cons
-
There can be a bit of a wait for your food if the place is buzzing, which might not suit if you're in a rush.
-
It sometimes feels a tad quiet, especially if you pop in early, so it might not have that lively pub vibe you're after all the time.
-
The building doesn't look much like a restaurant from the outside, and the entrance is tucked away down the side, which could make it tricky to spot at first.

Tasty and satisfying. The falafel bowl was crunchy and fresh. The only downside was a long wait, but it was busy and staff stayed friendly.
Lovely staff in the pub. Food was of high quality and good value too. Would visit again.
It was a bit quiet when we arrived (early afternoon), but staff were really friendly and the food was delicious (onion rings, lamb palak, rice, garlic naan and my son had a chicken dish) and plentiful. Even my teenage son couldn't eat it all. I would highly recommend.
Me and my partner tried the Woodlands bar and grill last night. The food was well above other bar and grills we've had, in regards to taste, texture and quantity.
Members of staff are very friendly and welcoming, very clean environment to eat.
Will be returning with friends
We visited here with a friend after a recommendation.
The food and staff were amazing. Great vege options - I had the vege grill whereas friends had the large grill. Decent sized portions.
Building does not look like a restaurant and the entrance is down the side of the building. Looks like it used to be a working mens club or something?
Would highly recommend!
