About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about The Wobbly Duck – it's one of those pubs that just sticks in your mind after a visit. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place really shines with its top-notch selection of beers, from crafty IPAs to classic real ales, and the staff know their stuff, always happy to suggest something new or chat about your favourites. The atmosphere is spot on too; it's got this fun, duck-themed quirkiness that gives it a cosy, welcoming feel, whether you're settling in for a quiet drink or joining the lively crowd. That said, it's not without its little drawbacks – it's a bit tucked away, so you might miss it if you're not paying attention, and those stairs could be a bother for anyone who's not up for a climb. All in all, though, it's a cracking spot for a good night out in Newcastle, and I'd say it's well worth seeking out if you're after a proper pub experience with a bit of character.

Overall, it's a lively spot with a great vibe, especially in a prime location near Newcastle's shopping areas, making it easy to pop in after a wander.
Cons
-
It can be a tad tricky to find, tucked away in a basement off Eldon Square, so you might end up doing a bit of scouting around before you spot it.

There are a few stairs to navigate, which could be a hassle if you're not steady on your feet or have mobility concerns, so it's worth keeping in mind.

A superb little hideaway pub situated in old Eldon Square. Seats out front to enjoy the sunshine and a cute little beer garden with heaters out the back. Very quirky. Nice staff, good atmosphere, good selection of beers.
Not suitable for those unsteady on their feet as there are a few stairs up and down, zigzaggy passageways and a couple of little trip hazards but otherwise a real treat!!
A great little bar, near the main shopping area of Newcastle. A little tricky to find but worth it. Great selection of beers.
A super Micro bar in a basement off Eldon Square. Paulicarus loved the real ale selection. Apparently there is outside space to the rear and tables on the square when weather permits. A CAMRA 2025 Good Beer Guide entry. Busy in our visit.
Was advised to try this hidden gem by my son and it was one of his better ideas, great bar with plenty of choice of beers. Staff seemed very friendly and knowledgeable about all the selections. It’s a bar you could easily walk past and not see it but it won’t happen to me again
Hidden gem! Great place to have a quiet pint. Great selection of craft beers.
Love the duck theme throughout the pub. Good service! I will definitely be back upon my next stay in Newcastle!
