About This Pub

Ah, The Wobbly Cobbler, what a lovely find in the heart of Scotforth! From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place really nails the basics with an excellent selection of local brews that keep things interesting and tasty – think cask ales and wines to suit every mood. The staff come across as genuinely welcoming, always up for a chat and sharing tips on what to try, which makes popping in feel like meeting up with friends rather than just grabbing a drink. It's got that community spirit down pat, encouraging conversations and new experiences, and the fact you can bring your own grub adds a nice personal touch without breaking the bank. On the flip side, though, the hours are a bit on the restrictive side, especially with closures mid-week, so you might need to plan around that to avoid disappointment. And if you're after a quiet evening, Fridays can get lively with the crowds, but that's part of the charm if you don't mind a bit of hustle. Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone in Lancaster looking for a reliable spot to unwind – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives far outweigh the minor niggles.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely spot on, with a fantastic range of local cask and keg ales that really hit the spot – I heard the Turkish delight stout is a must-try!
  • The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable; they make you feel right at home, like chatting with old mates behind the bar.
  • It's a proper community hub with a warm, conversational atmosphere that's perfect for catching up over drinks.
  • You can bring your own food, which is a brilliant touch for keeping things flexible and affordable.
  • They're always improving the place, like expanding the space and upgrading facilities, so it feels fresh and welcoming.
Cons
  • Opening hours can be a bit limited, especially with closures on Mondays and Tuesdays – might catch you out if you're planning a mid-week pint.
  • It gets quite busy on Friday evenings, so you might have to queue or find it a tad crowded if you're not an early bird.
  • No phone number listed on their details, which could make it tricky to check on things quickly if you're not online.

First visit was so good I went back! Beer excellent as were the staff and atmosphere. We had passed it multiple times meaning to call in, very glad I finally did. The Turkish delight stout was fabulous. Definitely visit here if you get the chance. I believe you may take your own food which is great especially as there are takeaways next door. They ask you to use the bins outside or take your rubbish home. Perfect!

Although I rarely go to pubs, this is my favourite one in Lancaster. My wife and I will sometimes stop here for a drink after walking around the block. The owner Tom is a sound fella. Would definitely recommend!

Feasibly our nearest ‘pub’, recently expanded to the neighbouring building; together with increasing their indoor seating capacity this has also improved the lavatory facilities from one shared cubicle to three separate restrooms. Appears busiest Friday evenings, with a good mix of regulars and new faces, we tend to go for a first or concluding drink of the evening, but have also spent a few times just at The Wobbly Cobbler. Drink range tends to be a mix of regular favourites including Bowness Bay Brewing Lakes Lager and Fellwalker [I reckon this is their best seller] and new beverages, nevertheless there is always a good range. They also allow outside food, so long as you are not a pig and take your rubbish away. Overall, a great venue and really important to see a successful and growing venture as all too many pubs are closing their doors presently.

Excellent selection of local beers. Knowledgeable bar staff. Brought our own snacks. Will be when all the alterations are completed.

Going from strength to strength extending next door. 6 cask ales plus a hand full of keg lines all appear to be sourced locally from independent breweries. This pub is a worthy entry in the Good Beer Guide.
