About This Pub

Ah, Greaves Park in Lancaster – what a gem it is for a good old pub outing. I've got to say, from what I've seen in the reviews and the vibe of the place, it's got that perfect mix of traditional charm and modern touches that just makes you want to settle in for the evening. The staff are brilliant, always on hand with a smile and quick service, which really elevates the whole experience – think attentive servers who remember your name and make you feel like a regular from day one. The food? Well, it's spot on; those pub classics and seasonal dishes are packed with flavour and come out piping hot, offering great bang for your buck, especially if you're after something comforting like a roast on a Sunday. It's in such a handy spot too, near some lovely walks and historical sites, with easy parking, so it's ideal for a post-stroll stop. On the flip side, it does get heaving at times, which means you might have a bit of a wait for your mains, and if you're veggie-inclined, the options could do with a bit more variety to keep everyone happy. All in all, though, it's a place I'd happily recommend for a catch-up with friends – just book ahead if you can to avoid any queues and make the most of that welcoming atmosphere.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The service is absolutely top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff like Ella and Joseph who make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is a real highlight – quality pub classics and seasonal specials that are cooked to perfection, with generous portions like those huge Yorkshire puds that everyone raves about.
  • It's got a lovely, welcoming atmosphere in a beautiful Grade II listed building, with clean and well-maintained interiors that add to the cosy vibe.
  • Great value for money, especially with reasonably priced meals that don't skimp on quality, making it perfect for a casual get-together or a special occasion.
  • Fantastic location in Lancaster, close to attractions like Lancaster Castle and Williamson Park, plus plenty of parking, which makes it easy to pop in after a walk.
Cons
  • It can get quite busy, leading to waits for your food, even if it doesn't ruin the experience – just something to keep in mind if you're in a rush.
  • There might not be as many vegetarian options as some folks would like, which could leave a few diners wanting more variety on that front.

We visited Greave Park for a meal this week and found it a lovly experience. The exterior is impressive and even the scaffolding didn't really detract. The interior was clean, well maintained and welcoming. The service was great - Ella in particular stood out as a friendly and attentive server and she was so helpful. She made us feel like VIPs. The vegetarian options on the menu are excellent and we particularly enjoyed the vegetable 'mixed grill'. All restaurants should serve something like this - it was a fantastic meal and I hope it stays on the menu permanently. We all enjoyed our food and gave compliments to the chef. Recommended.

Had a lovely 3 course meal here for Mother’s Day (set menu), it was so reasonably priced that I was concerned it wouldn’t be any good but it was absolutely lovely. The service was also quick, especially considering how busy it was, and so friendly. Really nice decor inside. Maybe a few more veggie options would have been good but I’m not complaining, what I had was amazing. Lovely varied drinks menu too. Looking forward to going back.

Omg amazing. Looked for"after work" treat before heading home, short listed 4 places, but this menu stood out from the rest! Never been before. Certainly wasn't disappointed, beautiful building, met by lovely manager Joseph such a great character and helpful. Squid was outstanding, what a plate full, wow, followed by main menu pork belly......luscious, lip smacking tasty food, not to forget the divine tasty gravy!! Friend had the mushroom and said tasty and enjoyable followed by the mahoosive steak pie 🥧 what a size, but she thoroughly tucked in and enjoyed. Treated ourselves to mini pudding and coffee at the end as we deserved it!! ☕️ 🧁 would most definitely return!! 🍽 🍷 🍺 thankyou and compliments to the chef!!

We enjoyed a Christmas Eve meal here with family (including two children 8 & 4 y/o). Everything was perfectly cooked and came piping hot. The huge Yorkshire puds were a big hit with everyone. We had a [expected] wait for our mains as it was VERY busy but it didn't spoil our experience and the kids had a big double sided colouring/puzzle sheet to keep them busy and some Christmas crackers to pull. Everyone (including kids) polished off their meals and deserts came quickly, which we're also beautiful. Highly recommend and we'll definitely visit again. Thank you to the friendly staff at such a busy time!
