About This Pub

Ah, The Windsor Castle – it's one of those classic London pubs that you stumble upon and think, 'Now that's the real deal.' From what I've gathered from folks who've been, the staff often go the extra mile, being dead chatty and helpful, which makes popping in for a pint or a meal feel like catching up with old mates. The drinks menu is spot on, with cracking cocktails and a solid range of beers and wines to pair with their inventive take on British dishes – I'm talking pies that hit the mark and roasts that are just the ticket for a Sunday treat. That garden out back is a highlight too; it's lovely for soaking up the sun or staying warm under the heaters on a brisk evening. On the downside, it's not all smooth sailing – a few have had rough patches with service, like orders going awry or waits that drag on, and it can be a bit pricey if things don't click. Still, for a relaxed spot in a great part of town, it's worth giving it a go, as long as you keep in mind it might have its off days, just like any good pub does.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready with great recommendations to make your visit feel personal and welcoming.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of drinks, including standout cocktails like the espresso martini that really hit the spot.
  • The food is a real treat, with hearty options like pies, roasts, and fish and chips that deliver classic British flavours with a creative edge.
  • The outdoor garden is an absolute gem, complete with heaters for cosy evenings, making it perfect for a relaxed afternoon or evening out.
  • The atmosphere is warm and inviting, thanks to those beautiful old wooden features that give the place a charming, traditional pub vibe.
Cons
  • Service can be inconsistent at times, with some experiences involving order mix-ups, long waits, and even billing errors that put a dampener on things.
  • The food isn't always up to scratch; a few visits have left people feeling it was just average, especially when you're hoping for something exceptional.
  • It's not the cheapest spot around, and if the service falters, those moderate prices might feel a bit steep for what you get.
  • It might not be the best choice for families, as one account mentioned a frustrating time with kids, including waits that left them hungry.

Where do I begin? We went to this pub after it was recommended to us by locals in the area and it exceeded expectations. Dan was attentive and so friendly and gave us great recommendations! Also, they make a mean espresso martini! It was such a great welcoming experience to our trip in London we will definitely be back! Highly recommend!

Had a very pleasant early afternoon here in the outdoor garden. Comfortable setting and very good food. I enjoyed this chicken, ham hock and leek pie with mashed potatoes and a pea, leek and cabbage side. Wonderful service. The garden is ideal including mounted heaters above tables. Will absolutely return for more beers and food.

Terrible experience. We were with kids that were left to starve for more than an hour. There were multiple errors in our order and they ended up charging us for a bottle of water twice. Food was less than average. It was not cheap either. Only redeeming feature was the beautiful garden in the back.

The food was pretty good, nothing exceptional. But it was by no means bad, it was decent I'd probably go back. Got the fish n chips, Steak Pie, and Breaded chicken dish. The Fish n' chips were good 4/5 great crisp and fries were think, the batter was a bit bland but not bad. The Steak pie was decent but not so flavorful. The Chicken was bland 2/5, it didn't taste bad, but it definitely needed more to it, we used some of the Steak pie sauce to pour over it which made it alot better, but alone it was pretty tasteless. It's a very cute bar and we really loved the esthetic.

A truly stunning pub! The beautiful old wooden features create a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for a cozy winter visit. In the summer, the charming outdoor area is just as appealing. We enjoyed a delicious sharing roast, which was cooked to perfection. I can’t wait to bring the rest of my family here soon!
