About This Pub
Ah, The Willows Inn – it's one of those places that really stands out for its hearty, well-prepared meals with a modern edge, and I've heard from a few mates that the portions are generous enough to keep you going for hours. The staff seem to go the extra mile with their welcoming service, and it's lovely to see it's so accommodating for dogs, which adds a nice touch if you're popping in with your four-legged companion. On the flip side, there was that one comment about the decor feeling a tad uninspired and generic now, which is a shame as it might not have that warm, homely feel anymore. Plus, I noticed a mention of menu changes that didn't quite hit the mark, like swapping out a dish unexpectedly. All in all, with its decent rating, it's still worth considering for a bite and a drink in the Braintree area, but perhaps give it a ring first to see what's on offer – you know, just to make sure it lives up to the buzz.

Cons
-
There have been a few hiccups with menu items, like unexpected substitutions that might leave you a bit disappointed.
-
The decor has been described as rather bland and generic these days, losing some of that cosy charm it once had.
-
With the reviews dating back a few years, it's hard to say if things have stayed the same or evolved, so it might be worth checking in advance.

Tried Willows Inn, used to go but now has new landlords Paul and Mel with 30 years experience in excellence. New menu with a modern twist? Chose homemade catch of the day (changed to local sausage as nobody knew what fish it was) amd triple cooked chips. Cosy feel and decor gone, now bland generic chairs, slow service and frozen food. I wouldn't recommend you or your dog to go.
Very friendly and efficient staff. Fabulous food selection and incredible drinks are all available at very reasonable prices. Pub is also very dog friendly.
Was really surprised to stumble upon somewhere this nice. The menu's far far better than typical country pub fair and, based on the couple of things we had, I suspect anything you try would be great. Definitely recommend it.
10 people Thursday lunch, excellent. Highly innovative food and decor. Food well prepared, fresh and tasty. I pulled back from a full five stars as I can't speak for everybody but as far as I know we were all well pleased.
Excellent value for money top quality food and service, and BIG sized meals, Having been here 3 times now and eaten different meals they were all well cooked, service each time was great. I would highly recommend
