About This Pub
Oh, Bill's Braintree is one of those places that just hits the spot after a long day wandering around the shops – you know, when you're ready to put your feet up and tuck into something tasty. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are an absolute delight; folks have raved about how attentive and professional they are, making every visit feel personal and enjoyable. The food's a real winner too, with a menu that's got a fresh twist on British classics, whether you're starting early with a full breakfast or grabbing lunch with a group. It's brilliantly set up for all sorts of outings – dog lovers will appreciate the welcoming vibe for their pets, and there are loads of thoughtful touches like disabled access and a sunny terrace that make it accessible for everyone. On the flip side, being part of a chain means it doesn't quite have that quirky, local charm, and the prices are on the moderate side, which might add up if you're popping in regularly. Plus, it does get packed, so you might find yourself waiting a bit during peak times. All in all, it's a dependable choice for a good meal and a chat, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area – just go with an open mind and you'll likely have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely lovely and friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
The food is top-notch, with a great new menu full of tasty options that cater to everyone, whether you're after a hearty breakfast or a twist on classic lunches.
-
It's super dog-friendly, which is a real bonus if you're out and about with your furry friend – they even get their own bowl!
-
The atmosphere is spot on, with cosy booths and spacious tables that make it perfect for a quick bite after shopping or a relaxed catch-up with mates.
-
They've got brilliant facilities like free WiFi, disabled access, and a terrace, plus it's easy to pop in for a meal at any time with their flexible hours.
Cons
-
As it's a chain restaurant, it might not have that unique, one-of-a-kind feel that some smaller spots offer, though it's still a reliable choice.
-
With its moderate pricing, it could feel a tad pricey for everyday visits, especially if you're just after something simple.
-
It can get quite busy, particularly after a shopping spree in Braintree Village, so you might have to wait for a table now and then.

I was served by the lovely and friendly staff at Bills, Lily and Laila. We were very well looked after, and the new menu is great. AND they are dog friendly, doesn't get much better than this :)
So today I had brought my sister to Braintree Village for a shopping trip and we had chosen to stop off at bills for our afternoon meal and I have got to say I have had the best experience coming to bells I love them anyways however this is just made me really fall in love with their food that atmosphere their service the cleanliness there’s so many factors that have impacted my experience that I would not change for the world. I had an amazing time was very lively. it’s really nice to see that they see dogs and they have dog treats and it’s nice but for us where we were going shopping and we’re having a really nice meal it was wonderfully warm inside really cozy great atmosphere great music staff was super helpful and super fun. Food looked absolutely amazing and beautiful. Had to take photos. I will be back over and over and over again, and I cannot wait for my next visit.
Came for dinner after a long day shopping, food was amazing. We were served by Shreyas who was really polite and professional. Very fast service and great with the kids. Really made the visit to Bills so enjoyable ! Thank you
Had lunch at bills today as I was meeting my family while I was at work. We sat outside in the sun as the sun was shining which was amazing. Service was really quick and the food was very tasty, It did not disappoint. Our waitress was very lovely. Dogs can eat here too. They get their own dog bowl and we could pick from the dog menu! Also walked out with some pancakes to take back to my store team which they were very happy about :) 100% recommend.
We went to Bill’s Braintree for a catch up and dinner before the cinema and had a lovely time, we both really enjoyed our experience here.
The décor of the restaurant was really nice and felt slightly classy, they permit dogs in the venue so if you’re a dog lover this is an ideal place to see some four-legged friends. One diner had their small dog in a forward facing baby carrier which was really sweet.
The service was really good as well, we had three different waiting staff throughout our meal who were all quite attentive. The menu is nice and has some good options on it.
I went for the Truffle Chicken Two Ways, and my friend the Classic Burger which came with fries. The staff were accommodating to swap my friend’s rosemary salted fries for regular salted fries at her request. My friend’s burger looked lovely and consisted of a beef patty, linseed bun, tomato, lettuce, house pickles, secret sauce and red onion.
I really enjoyed my chicken, this was served chargrilled with truffle red wine jus and creamed potatoes alongside buttermilk crispy fried chicken and truffle mayonnaise. It was served with an extra pot of the jus, a lemon wedge and watercress which were all nice touches. The main was hot and a nice temperature to eat, though the Caesar Loaded Fries could have been warmer. These were still enjoyable to eat though.
I chose a Golden Latte to drink, which was very fragrant and spiced. This consisted of turmeric, agave, ginger root, cinnamon, black pepper and coconut milk with edible flowers on top. It was very nice and something different to coffees that I’ve had previously. The restaurant also gives the option to swap to dairy-free milks (soya, oat or coconut) for no extra charge.
For dessert we treated ourselves to buttermilk Bottomless Pancakes for a very reasonable price of £9.50, which are £5 on a Friday. This gave two options of Lotus Biscoff or Fresh Fruit and Syrup. I tried both and they were delicious, each plate came with three thick pancakes. The staff were really accommodating at our requests for an extra scoop of vanilla ice cream and extra syrup.
The bathroom was suitably clean and serviced when I used it at the end of the meal. Overall we really enjoyed our experience here and wouldn’t hesitate to return 😊
