About This Pub

Ah, The Cross Keys – what a lovely find in White Notley! From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place really shines with its food; folks rave about the hearty roasts, tasty desserts, and even those thoughtful vegan options that make everyone feel included. The service is another highlight – it's that personal touch, like staff remembering your favourites or turning a starter into a main without a fuss, that makes you want to come back time and again. The atmosphere is just spot on too, with a cosy, friendly vibe and the odd live music night that livens things up nicely. On the flip side, do keep an eye on the opening times as they shift a bit by day, and if you're popping in on a weekend, it might be worth booking ahead since it can get a tad packed in such a snug space. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed meal or a catch-up with mates, and with that high rating, you'd be hard-pressed not to have a good time – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely top-notch – think generous portions of proper pub grub that's delicious and even caters to vegans, making it a winner for all tastes.
  • Service is warm and attentive; the staff go the extra mile to remember your preferences and make you feel right at home, which really adds to the experience.
  • It's got a lovely, cosy atmosphere with friendly locals and the occasional live music, perfect for a relaxed evening out.
  • Great value for money with meals at a moderate price that don't skimp on quality or quantity.
Cons
  • Opening hours can vary a tad depending on the day, so it's wise to double-check if you're planning a visit to avoid any surprises.
  • Being a smaller spot, it might get a bit crowded on busier evenings, which could mean waits for tables or a more lively vibe than some might prefer.

Excellent, exceptional customer service I was invited with friends who had been a few times and she is an incredible chef so it’s hard for her to want to go out and eat. Our waitress knew there names what they liked who would eat what, made a starter into a main for us. Vegan desert was available for my dairy intolerant child. It was great I would 100% go back. I paid £60 for three of us to eat.

My partner and I visited The Cross Keys pub on a Saturday evening , we had a meal and the food/drinks and the service was amazing. The pub had a lovely welcoming atmosphere and an added bonus was there was live music on. We will definitely be returning back soon.
