About This Pub

Ah, The William Peverel, it's one of those Wetherspoons spots that you either love for its no-nonsense vibe or find a bit frustrating with the inconsistencies. From what I've gathered chatting about it, the place really shines with its superb atmosphere, especially on Wednesday quiz nights where it's packed and everyone's having a blast. The prices are a absolute bargain, making it perfect for a cheeky pint or a meal without breaking the bank, and the staff are generally helpful, adding a nice touch to your visit. Plus, the medieval decor gives it a fun, historical feel that's clean and comfortable for settling in. On the flip side, though, the food can be a real mixed bag – some folks rave about it being tasty and quick, but others have had nightmare experiences with overcooked steaks, dry or nearly raw chicken, and stale bits that just don't hit the spot. It's a shame because when it's good, it's good, but those off days might put you off coming back. All in all, if you're after a lively, affordable pub for drinks and a laugh, it's worth a go, but maybe stick to the simpler options and keep expectations in check for the grub.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, especially on quiz nights – it's packed and full of fun, making it a top spot for a good laugh with mates.
  • Prices are spot on for a budget-friendly night out; you get great value for your money on drinks and meals.
  • The staff are really helpful and friendly, always up for a chat and making sure you're sorted.
  • It's clean and comfortable with a brilliant medieval theme that brings a bit of Robin Hood magic to the place.
  • When the food hits the mark, it's surprisingly tasty and comes out quick, which is a win for a casual meal.
Cons
  • Food quality can be hit or miss – some dishes come out overcooked or undercooked, like a steak that's more cremated than medium.
  • There are reports of meals feeling microwaved or stale, such as dry chicken, stuck-together rice, or rock-hard naan that could double as a frisbee.
  • Service isn't always spot on; for instance, sending back a dish might not sort the issue properly, leaving you disappointed.
  • It's a Wetherspoons, so you might find the overall experience a bit basic compared to fancier pubs, with no frills like pre-sliced pizza.

The food was absolutely appalling. Medium steak came out absolutely cremated sent it back and they returned the same steak that I am almost certain absolutely appalling food. Won’t be in there again for sure

The William Peverell- JD Wetherspoons, is a great pub to visit for both food & drinks! Food very tasty & staff are helpful. The decor is brilliant as it is medieval Nottingham (Robin Hood). A very clean & comfortable pub! The food/drinks are really tasty! Two large booths are available aswell as numerous tables throught the building! The washrooms are so lovely & well looked after, suiting everyone's needs. Their is a good sized, enclosed beer garden. Extremely reasonable prices! Opening times: Silunday to Saturday/8am-12am. Bookings are accepted but really not nessecary. (Even at busy times!) Definitely worth going for a visit....

Food was microwaved. Chicken was dry and half seemed like it was nearly raw couldn’t see if it was or not due to the sauce. Rice was old and stuck together. Nann bread was half stale. Rock hard I could use it as a frisbee. Burgers comes with weird cheese doesn’t melt. Chips comes in portion size for kids. Half my curry was cold half was boiling hot. Took too long to serve food. Might need more microwaves to get all dinners out on time. Warm chocolate brownie more raw boiling batter slight skin cooked with too much chocolate sauce and ice cream. Made me ill very quick. Not worth the money for a little slab of brownie can imagine the mini brownie being a 3 yr old portion. Definitely not coming here again. Some poor woman working with a wrist injury collecting dishes while the man only did a few. Shocking to see they treat their staff like this

I'm not a huge fan of wetherspoons, but I really can't complain. The food was delicious and came out surprisingly fast and at a great price . The service was good, and the building itself was a pleasant surprise. My only improvement would be if the pizza was pre sliced or came with a cutter instead of a steak knife.
