About This Pub

Ah, the Monkey – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? From what I've heard from folks who've popped in, it's got this warm, traditional charm with a crowd that's always up for a good chat and a laugh, making it dead easy to settle in for the evening. The beer garden is a real gem on a sunny afternoon, and it's spot on if you're keen on catching the latest match with some mates and enjoying the regular entertainment lined up. Plus, the staff are bang on, keeping everything running smoothly and pouring a solid pint every time. But, let's be straight, it's not without its downsides – a few have mentioned a bit of a whiff that makes you want to dash out after one drink, and the decor could do with a spruce-up to shake off that tired look. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out in Bulwell, but if you're after something a bit more polished, you might want to keep that in mind. Still, with a rating like that, it's clear it's doing plenty right for most who visit.

Not a bad little pub but needs a good clean as it doesn't smell to great and could do with a lick of paint. Only had a quick drink as the smell stopped me from staying for a second

Good local pub, had a recent revamp but has still retained its character, great, happy attentive management &staff, nice outside area, regular entertainment, and most importantly always a decent pint, ti's always a pleasure popping in for a few pints..only 3*** for food coz it's a Pub, but always fresh cobs available and they often do a really nice buffet

I have real trouble reviewing pubs like this ; it's certainly not done anything wrong but it's just very ordinary. I could sum it up with - an average pub, doing what it does best, being average. Shame google doesn't allow 1/2 🌟 reviews, as 2.5 would be ideal. Heck, I was in a good mood on my visit, so giving this place an average 3🌟. For real ale drinkers I can confirm there are none available.
