About This Pub
Ah, The Whitmore Tap in Bristol – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local haunt, right in the heart of Whiteladies Road, where you can kick back with a pint and soak up that easy-going Bristol buzz. From what I've gathered from the reviews and a quick peek at their site, it's spot on for a relaxed afternoon or evening out; the food really shines with those generous Sunday roasts and tasty options like fried chicken poutine, and the staff go out of their way to make sure everyone's looked after, which adds such a warm touch. It's brilliant for catching live sports on the big screens or challenging mates to a game of darts upstairs – there's always something on to keep the energy up. On the flip side, though, it's not flawless; a couple of folks mentioned some food inconsistencies, like chips that were a bit overdone or portions that didn't quite hit the mark, and it can get packed, so planning ahead is a must if you don't fancy queuing. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after a good laugh and a decent meal, but I'd say go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Cons
-
Some dishes can be hit or miss, like overcooked chips or skimpy gravy, which might leave you a tad disappointed if you're after that perfect pub meal.
-
It gets busy, especially on Sundays or during events, so you might need to book ahead to avoid waiting around.
-
A few menu items, such as jacket potatoes, aren't always available, which could be a downer if that's what you're craving.

Had a wonderful Sunday roast out in the sun. Roast pork came with some beautiful crackling with an impressive yorkie on top. Everything was seasoned so nicely, even treated ourselves to some cauliflower cheese. Great portions for the price. Faye, Tom and Molly looked after us so well, it’s becoming a bit of a regular spot for us. After a few glasses of rosè, we went upstairs for a game of pool. Bit of a hidden gem, will deffo be back.
Great pub with a fantastic atmosphere for the rugby six nations. Great hearty menu with lots of options for a great day out! I had the buttermilk fried chicken poutine and the corn ribs - excellent 👌thanks Millie for looking after us!
Lovely pub with a good selection of beers on draft, lots of space and good facilities. The service is friendly and fast and the prices are very reasonable. We only came for drinks but when we visited on Sunday lunchtime the pub got busy with various groups having lunch so I would recommend booking a table during the weekend.
Delicious roast! Couldn’t have been nicer. The pork and butternut squash wellington were amazing. Ella served us and was an absolute delight! Will be back!
The star is dropped for the jacket potatoe option not bei g available, the pie and chipx came with overcooked chips, lack of generosity on the gravy, hard peas. Generally unapetising, thouvh perfectly edible. Fabulous olace and atmosphere.
