About This Pub
Ah, The White Swan, it's one of those Wetherspoon places that you pop into for a no-fuss pint or a bite, right in the heart of Solihull. I reckon it's got that familiar charm with its inexpensive options, which is always a winner if you're out for a casual meet-up with mates. The crowd can be quite cheerful, especially on a Saturday lunchtime, full of groups chatting away, which really gives it a community feel. On the flip side, though, it's not all smooth sailing – I've heard a few tales of staff not being as attentive as they'd like, and the food can sometimes fall short, like when eggs turn up overcooked or a burger's missing its bacon. Prices have crept up a bit too, so it might not feel as budget-friendly as it used to. All in all, it's worth a visit if you're after something straightforward, but keep your expectations in check for a balanced night out.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
It's a classic Wetherspoon spot with reasonably priced drinks and meals, making it a great go-to for a casual catch-up without breaking the bank.
-
The atmosphere can be lively, especially on weekends, with plenty of groups enjoying themselves, which adds to that welcoming pub vibe.
-
They're open bright and early until late, seven days a week, so it's handy for a quick pint or a relaxed breakfast any time.
Cons
-
Some folks have mentioned the staff can be a bit offhand at times, which takes away from the overall experience.
-
Food quality seems hit or miss – things like eggs not cooked right or items missing from orders have left a few people disappointed.
-
Prices might not feel as cheap as you'd expect from a Spoons these days, with some surprises at the till that could catch you out.

Very decent Spoons. Like everywhere, Solihull is in decline but the clientele in this pub was well above e the average. Lots of groups of good people on a Saturday lunchtime.
I thought witherspoon were supposed to be cheap ? I usually pop into this pub after work and i ordered 1 pint of Guinness and 2 packets of nuts at the bar. Out of a £10.00 I was given £2.15 change..have your prices gone up ? If so , witherspoon should have the decency to display price increases at the bar !!!
Used to be a fan of Wetherspoons. But after my last visit to this one it has me wanting to avoid the brand altogether. Rude staff who didn’t seem to grasp any of the good old CQSMA values. Food was bang average. Drinks weren’t much better. And doesn’t even have the benefit of good pricing anymore.
Honestly. The staff need training in the very basics of customer service. Manners don’t cost a thing. And just dealing with a query rather than wandering off and chatting in the glass wash area would go a long way.
So very sadly disappointed.
We had two breakfast meals. One was an English Breakfast Muffin was nice. However, I asked for American Breakfast with a poached egg amongst other things.
My two fried eggs were rock hard and my poached egg, well, so we have to talk about?!?!
The poached egg was cold and hard - more like a hard boiled egg then one you serve supposedly warm / hot with a breakfast.
Update: have been a few times now and the food hasn't been up scratch. There is always something missing in one of our meals. Latest one was ordering an ultimate burger which was missing the bacon.
Went to The White Sawn for lunch. Had to get past people smoking right outside the door. Once inside there was ample seating and we managed to get a nice clean table. We ordered from the app; the drinks and food arrived promptly after. The pizza we ordered was the right size as advertised and roughly the size of the plate. It was generously topped as well and tasted good. The fish and chips were also cooked well and you got a reasonable portion of chips in comparison to some of the small portions at other weatherspoons. Overall a good experience with fast service and good portion sizes. The only negative is to be prepared to go past the people sitting and smoking right by the only entrance (maybe they should move the smoking area)!
