About This Pub
Ah, Flute & Flagon in Solihull – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its warm, community feel, you know? From what I've gathered chatting about places like this, the staff stand out as absolute gems; they're so hospitable and make you feel like you're catching up with old mates rather than just popping in for a pint. The drinks selection is spot on, with a good mix of beers and cocktails that keep things interesting, and that beer garden is just the ticket for a relaxed afternoon. It's also fantastic for sports fans, with all the big matches on the screens, and being dog-friendly adds a nice touch for those who like to bring their four-legged friends along. On the flip side, though, it's not all smooth sailing – I've heard a few tales of waits dragging on, especially when the place is buzzing, and some meals haven't quite lived up to expectations, like when dishes arrive all at once or don't taste as fresh as they'd hoped. Still, with its convenient spot in the town centre and affordable prices, it's worth a visit if you're in the area, just maybe plan for a quieter time if you're after a more laid-back experience. Overall, it's a solid choice for a good night out, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and appreciate the charm of a proper local pub.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
They've got a cracking selection of drinks, from tasty lagers and ales to cocktails, perfect for unwinding after a long day.
-
The outdoor seating is a real treat, especially on a sunny afternoon in Solihull, where you can just sit back and people-watch.
-
It's a brilliant spot for catching live sports on the telly, with events like the Premier League and rugby keeping things lively.
-
Being dog-friendly means you can bring your furry mate along, which is always a plus for a relaxed pub outing.
-
The prices are pretty reasonable for a town centre pub, so you won't break the bank on a pint or a bite.
Cons
-
Service can get a bit slow when it's busy, like when everyone's ordering food and drinks at once, so patience might be needed.
-
Some folks have mentioned issues with the food, such as starters and mains arriving together or dishes not quite hitting the mark.
-
It can feel a tad crowded at peak times, which might make it less ideal if you're after a quiet chat.
-
While the atmosphere's generally upbeat, a few experiences suggest that consistency in service and food quality could be better.

My first and last time here.
I'm surprised to read so many good reviews about the food.
I was hungry and looking forward to my meal.
Had a very long wait for it and starter and main course were served together.
I'd suggest serving starter before main course.
My prawn starter was soggy and my main was dry and overcooked. I'd suggest don't ask how customer wants steak cooked if you are going to overcook it that it's like tiny shriveled piece of shoe leather.
Better if you can teach your cook how little time medium rare needs.
This might be a good pub for drinks but for food either improve the quality and service or just offer crisps and nuts alone.
For those wanting for a good place to eat you really want to avoid eating here unless some changes are made.
Visited on a Saturday afternoon/evening some of the most hospitable staff I've encountered in a long time, friendly helpful and enjoyed our time there, would definitely recommend and return, shame stonegate don't train all their staff the same as our local has some of the rudest ignorant staff I've ever come across, well done guys
Popped in for a quick pint when in Solihull. The woman was on her own serving. People ordering food so it took a while to get my beer. The place is OK, worth a visit
Nice local pub in convenient location within Solihull town centre! Certainly not wetherspoons prices tho a pint and wine £9 (still not bad tho)
Nice seats outside where you can just watch the world go by and good choice of lagers and ales
One of the busiest Weatherspoons I've been in for some time.
Friday night in Solihull looks exciting.
Lots of lovely people having a good time together 😁.
Popped in to meet up with a friend who I had not seen for 34 years.
Great weekend.
