About This Pub
Ah, The White Bear – it's one of those unassuming local pubs in Broxbourne that really grows on you once you step inside. Under the watchful eye of Rachael and Charlie, it's all about that warm, family-friendly feel where you can kick back with a premium drink in hand and maybe catch the latest football or boxing match on one of the many screens. I love how the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, and the beer garden is just the ticket for a sunny afternoon. The pizzas and snacks get a big thumbs up from what I've heard, making it a solid choice for a casual bite. On the flip side, it can get a bit rowdy during big games, which isn't everyone's cup of tea, and if you're expecting a fancy restaurant, you might be disappointed – it's more pub grub than gourmet dining. Still, with its handy location near the train station and a lineup of live music, it's worth a visit for a laid-back evening. Overall, it's a decent spot that strikes a nice balance, and I'd say give it a go if you're in the area; you might just find your new go-to haunt.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
It's a brilliant spot for catching live sports, with plenty of screens around so you won't miss a moment, even at the bar.
-
They've got a lovely beer garden and outside seating area, perfect for enjoying a drink on a sunny day.
-
The pizzas and food options are spot on, especially if you're after something tasty without the fuss.
-
Live music and events add a fun vibe, keeping things lively and entertaining.
-
It's in a great location near Broxbourne train station, making it easy to pop in after a day out.
-
A wide selection of beers, lagers, and ciders at fair prices means there's something for everyone.
Cons
-
It can get a bit noisy, especially when it's buzzing with sports fans, which might not suit everyone looking for a quiet chat.
-
The food setup feels a tad underwhelming – what they call an in-house restaurant is more like a simple hole-in-the-wall for pizzas, not a full dining experience.
-
It might fly under the radar compared to busier pubs nearby, so it could do with a bit more polish to stand out.

A friendly local pup, at the Back they do amazing pizzas 🍕
Highly recommend.
First time here, car park with fish stall at the back . Range of food and snacks . Goid outside seating area Staff are friendly polite and helpful. Definitely will go again next time I'm in the area.
A sports bar. Bit too noisy for us. We had booked into in-house ilatain restaurant, but on arriving, we found out that it was just an ad on from a hole in the wall in the garden. Not really a proper restaurant. More for drink & pizza in a sports pub. Can not write about food as we decided to move on.
Great to watch sport in. A tidy and clean pub with many screens dotted around. there's even one behind the bar so you won't miss anything whilst ordering a drink. Wide range of beers, lagers and cider, all competitively priced. Nice staff too.
I didn't eat here so I can't comment on that, but I am curious. This is a pub that is all to easily over looked and yet it has the same live music as the busier pubs of Hoddesdon (up the road) It's in a great location, near to Broxbourne train station and the rivers and it's cosy! Drinks are very reasonably priced. There is plenty of seating.
