About This Pub

Ah, the Bull, it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local hideaway in the heart of Broxbourne. From what I've gathered from the reviews and the lowdown on the place, it's got this fantastic family-friendly charm that's been going strong since the 1920s, with a fresh makeover in 2018 keeping things modern yet cosy. The staff are top-notch, always on hand with a smile and quick service, whether you're popping in for a pint or settling in for a full meal. The food really stands out – big, tasty portions of classics like steak and ale pie or that legendary Sunday Carvery, all washed down with some cracking local brews or a cheeky cocktail. And let's not forget the outdoor garden, perfect for soaking up the sun with a four-legged friend in tow, or the event space that's great for anything from a casual meet-up to a private bash. On the flip side, it can sting the wallet a bit, especially if you're treating a group, and you might find it a tad quiet at times, which isn't ideal if you're in the mood for a lively crowd. Still, with that solid 4.3 rating, it's clear most folks leave happy, and I'd say it's well worth a visit for a relaxed evening out – just keep an eye on the tab and make sure you've got the right Bull!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly, efficient, and full of smiles, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is spot on; think hearty portions of quality dishes like that mint lamb pie or the famous Sunday Carvery, paired with locally brewed real ales and a great selection of cocktails and wines.
  • It's got a lovely spacious setup with a pool table, a peaceful garden for sunny days, and even a large gazebo for parties, plus it's dog-friendly and wheelchair accessible, so it's perfect for all sorts of get-togethers.
  • Plenty of parking and a welcoming family vibe, ideal for enjoying a relaxed meal or catching up with mates without any fuss.
Cons
  • It can get a bit pricey; for instance, a couple of pies with sides and drinks might set you back around £41, which adds up if you're not careful with the budget.
  • There's a chance of mixing it up with another nearby pub called The Bull's Head, so double-check you're at the right spot when you're booking or heading out.
  • It might not always have that lively buzz; some visits feel a tad quiet, especially if you're after a more energetic atmosphere.

It is the first time that I have been inside the bull pub. It is a very spacious environment with a car park at the rear of the building. Me and the wife ordered a steak and ale pie that comes with mash, peas, carrots, and gravy. 2 pints of Guinness and a coffee that came to £41.00. It is very well priced, but to be fair in this day and age, what isn't? The food was very hot. The pie was well filled also. A touch more gravy would have been nice, but each to their own. The service was exceptional, well mannered, and accommodating. The Bull also does live entertainment. Make sure that you book for the Cavery which serves on a Sunday. Overall, yes, I would come back here again.

Had a 1:30 Xmas Fayre lunch today, pub was full but not crowded. Food well presented and the portions were large.we had a party of 16 plus a couple of smaller children, so our tastes and choices varied. Staff were excellent, and when our food came we were all served quickly and together. During the meal waitresses checked to make sure we had sufficient drinks. A splendid afternoon. On Speaking to my 'party' afterwards , everyone said how they enjoyed their visit.

Popped in here on our way back from a family day out for some food. Had really good service and the food was of good quality too. The place was virtually empty, but was very big so I'm assuming it gets busy here during dinner time periods. Overall would definitely recommend!

Lovely decorated family pub, good selection on the menu, decent sized portions too. Friendly staff and good service, didn’t have to wait long for our food. Plenty of parking and also has a lovely garden to enjoy the weather. Would definitely recommend.
