About This Pub

Ah, The White Bear – it's one of those pubs that really hits the spot for a proper night out. From what I've gathered chatting about it, the food is a standout; we're talking tasty, authentic Indian and Nepalese dishes alongside some solid English classics, with portions so generous you'll be loosening your belt after. The vibe is spot on too, with a charming beer garden for sunnier days and a function space that's perfect for anything from a casual gathering to watching the footie with mates. Prices are fair for what you get, and there's loads of parking, making it hassle-free to visit. On the flip side, it's a shame about the occasional service woes – a few have mentioned getting orders mixed up or feeling like they were being overcharged, which can take the edge off an otherwise great evening. All in all, if you're after a place with brilliant grub and a welcoming feel, it's worth a go, but maybe keep expectations in check for the service to ensure a smooth visit.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is absolutely brilliant – think mouthwatering Indian and Nepalese curries with huge portions that leave you satisfied, plus some classic English options to boot.
  • The staff are so welcoming and friendly, always going the extra mile to make your visit enjoyable and accommodating any requests.
  • It's got a cracking atmosphere with a cosy beer garden, a function area for events, and plenty of screens for catching live sports – ideal for a relaxed get-together.
  • With ample parking and a moderate price level, it's easy to pop in without breaking the bank, and the overall vibe makes it a great spot for casual evenings or special occasions.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit inconsistent at times, with some experiences involving repeated orders or even near-overcharges, which puts a dampener on things.
  • Drinks prices might feel a tad steep, like that £15 for a small house wine, so it's worth keeping an eye on the bill if you're just after a quick pint.

Recently held an annual function (one of many) here at the White Bear, and the food, service and atmosphere was excellent. Great value for money considering the amount of food that they supplied and some really tasty options.

The food was lovely. However the service was poor. I had to repeat simple drink orders several times on a few occasions and the same member of staff nearly overcharged me twice...£15 for a small house wine!!!
