About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about The Whistle & Flute – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot if you're after a proper, laid-back evening in Nottingham. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this warm, inviting atmosphere that's perfect for winding down after a long day, with loads of space for groups of all sizes, whether you're nipping in for a quick pint or settling in for the night. The drinks are a standout; they've got an impressive range of real ales and craft beers, and the staff go the extra mile by letting you sample those unusual ciders before you commit, which is such a thoughtful touch. On the food front, the burgers and pizzas come highly recommended, especially with those cracking deals that make it feel like a real bargain. And if you're up for some fun, there's darts, pool, and even board games to dive into. But, to keep it real, I have to mention that there aren't many recent reviews, so it might not be as lively as it once was, and those operating hours do look a bit muddled, which could catch you out. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for anyone looking for a welcoming pub with a good mix of drinks, eats, and entertainment – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's welcoming and lively, with plenty of seating both inside and out, making it perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
  • They've got a cracking selection of real ales, craft beers, and fine spirits, plus the staff are brilliant at offering samples to help you pick your poison.
  • The food is a real highlight; think delicious burgers and pizzas that are great value, especially with those two-for-one deals on Mondays and Tuesdays.
  • Service is top-notch – the team is friendly and engaging, always ready to make you feel at home, and they've got fun extras like darts, pool, and board games to keep things entertaining.
Cons
  • There haven't been many recent reviews, which might mean things have quietened down a bit or could have changed since the last buzz.
  • The operating hours listed seem a tad confusing with multiple entries for Sundays, so it's worth double-checking before heading out to avoid any surprises.
  • One review mentioned that the food is 'most of the time' delicious, suggesting there might be the odd off day, so it could be hit or miss occasionally.

The ranch burger was so delicious! Great service, got some samples to try some of the weird cider flavors before deciding which was a great help. Food was quick and very good value. Nice atmosphere and plenty of seating.

I have found this pub to be a great place to wind down on a Friday after work, It has a great atmosphere, tables for all party sizes, their Pizza and Beer deal is great value and (Most of the time) is delicious! They constantly cycle their pumps and every week there is something new to try. The staff are friendly and attentive. I wish there was more room around the pool table it can feel a little cramped but they do offer a smaller que for the tricky shots ;) We have also used their basement area for company events. Its spacious and with enough attendance I believe they let you use the space for free (And man a mini bar downstairs so people don't have to carry their drinks up and down the stairs.) Great place over all.

So happy I found this pub, really friendly staff with such a great feeling to it! Food was cracking, 2 4 1 pizzas Monday and Tuesday!!! And the pints were divine, played some board games but there are darts and pool which I be returning for!

A fantastic recommendation from The Haunted Museum staff across the road. This pub is an amazing space with a fantastic host the red Labrador Boston, with wonderful staff who are lovely to engage with. To top it off we had a 10% discount off the bill from showing our Nottingham Haunted Museum ticket- an incredible gesture from one local business to another. Cannot wait to visit again

Very nice new(ish) pub on the Derby Road run. Plenty of choice of drinks, whatever your tipple, and at reasonable prices. Great inside and outside drinking areas - and a cave for private hire !! Good background music too. Big thanks to Andrea & the team.
