About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Wheatsheaf Pub & Grill – it's one of those places that really warms your heart, tucked away in the charming village of Bow Brickhill. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is where they shine brightest; their Sunday roasts are legendary, with succulent meats, crispy potatoes, and homemade gravies that leave you wanting more, all made from scratch with top-quality local ingredients. It's fantastic for a laid-back meal with friends or a family outing, and the outdoor areas are just the ticket for enjoying a bit of sunshine with a cold drink in hand. The staff come across as genuinely friendly and attentive, adding to that homely vibe, and events like quiz nights make it a real community hub. On the flip side, though, some folks have mentioned the prices edging a bit high for a pub – it's got that rustic charm rather than anything overly fancy, so if you're hoping for a more refined experience, it might not quite hit the spot. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night out, as long as you go in with the right expectations; I'd say it's worth a visit for the great grub and atmosphere, but keep an eye on the bill!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely top-notch, especially their Sunday roasts and sharing platters – fresh, locally sourced ingredients make every bite a treat.
  • It's got a warm, rustic atmosphere that's perfect for relaxing with friends or family, and the outdoor spaces are brilliant for sunny days or special occasions.
  • The service is spot on; the staff are friendly and helpful, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • They've got a great community vibe with things like monthly quiz nights, which are a fun way to catch up with mates.
  • As an award-winning pub, it's a hidden gem in Milton Keynes, with a solid selection of drinks and options for kids, making it ideal for all ages.
Cons
  • The prices can feel a bit steep for a pub setting, especially for lunch menus, which might not quite match the rustic vibe if you're expecting something more upscale.
  • It's more of a cosy, country-style spot rather than a fancy restaurant, so it might not live up to the billing if you're after a polished atmosphere.

The food was 'nice' and service good but to be honest would never justify the price for the adult and child set menu for lunch. At the end of the day it's a pub and rustic one at that with no where near the classy atmosphere of a real restaurant with similar or cheaper prices.....The kids set lunch menu - he had a small piece of garlic bread starter and main of 3 sausages and few chips for near £15....really? Not even any peas or baked beans with it........also if they are charging such massive amounts can't they at least get air conditioning as it was absolutely stifling in there.......the trip was at least useful to me that I am truly absolutely done with pubs as a place for a 'going out' meal.....call me unsophisticated but at these prices for a lunch I'd expect a huge amount more.....we have a range of amazing restaurants in MK centre and in future we'll save money and have a more special experience in our favourite restaurants .....no wonder pubs are shutting down!

Such a hidden gem! We struggle to find good restaurants for a roast. This place was amazing, especially their rosaries! I recommend the sharing board roast. Such lovely staff - we will definitely go back

I booked a table at The Wheatsheaf for their Fish Night, and it did not disappoint! I opted for the mussels from the fish counter, and they were absolutely delicious. The sauce was packed with flavour—rich and well-balanced, but not overly creamy—just the perfect combination. The evening was made even better by Tamas, who provided exceptional service, making sure everything was just right. A truly wonderful dining experience—I’ll definitely be back!

Love this pub! Favourite place to eat in the area. The mid week food is great including at lunchtime. The Sunday roast share platters are incredible. Really good selection of drinks including a great Meantime IPA. The children’s food is great as well. I would highly recommend this place for any occasion.
