About This Pub

Oh, what a gem The Wheatsheaf & Pigeon is – it's one of those local spots that just feels like a second home, tucked away in Staines with its welcoming corners and that affectionate nickname, the 'Wee and Pee'. From what I've gathered chatting about it, the food really steals the show; imagine tucking into home-cooked classics like a proper Sunday roast or fish and chips that hit the spot every time, all served up in a relaxed setting that's perfect for catching up with friends. They've got a brilliant lineup of events too, from karaoke nights and live music to quiz evenings and even a tapas week, which keeps things lively without overwhelming the traditional pub feel. On the flip side, it's got that old-school charm that some might find a bit dated, and there have been a couple of grumbles about extras like service charges popping up unexpectedly, which can dampen the mood a touch. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back night out – just go in with an open mind, and you'll likely have a cracking time, especially if you're after good value and a bit of community spirit.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think hearty Sunday roasts, crispy fish and chips, and those legendary onion rings that keep you coming back for more.
  • The staff are proper friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got that cosy, community pub vibe with a range of events like live music, quizzes, and even a tapas week, which adds a fun twist to evenings out.
  • Prices are reasonable, so you can enjoy a good pint and a meal without breaking the bank.
  • The atmosphere is relaxing and traditional, perfect for unwinding with mates after a long day.
Cons
  • It can feel a tad old-fashioned, which might not suit those after something more modern or trendy.
  • Some folks have mentioned an optional service charge being added without a chat first, which can leave a bit of a sour note on an otherwise great visit.
  • Based on a few comments, the service might not always hit the mark, though it's generally reliable.

Good standard pub, a bit old fashioned but that's the charm of it... Good home cooked food too

We visited the Weatsheaf and Pigeon on Wednesday night the 16/04/25 the food, the service was great, the atmosphere was really good. The only thing stopping me giving a 4 or 5 star review was that they added a 10% optional service charge without asking me first. It's my understanding that optional means that it's my choice not mandatory.
