About This Pub
Ah, the Kings Head in Ashford – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a local gem, you know? From what I've gathered chatting about it, the staff really stand out; they're so warm and attentive, making sure everyone's sorted whether you're in for a quick pint or a full meal. The food's a highlight too – think hearty Sunday roasts and a menu with something for everyone, all served up piping hot and full of flavour, without breaking the bank much. And let's not forget that spacious beer garden; it's brilliant for soaking up the sun with a cold drink in hand, or even bringing the dog along for the ride. They've got live sports on the telly and some fun events going on, which adds to that lively community feel. On the flip side, though, the overall rating's a solid 4.0, so it's not all five-star moments for everyone – maybe the odd slip in service or a busier night where things get a bit hectic. Prices have nudged up lately, which could sting if you're watching the pennies, and it does fill up quickly sometimes, so you might end up waiting around. All in all, it's a great spot for a catch-up with friends, but I'd say it's worth checking the vibe on a quieter day to get the best of it.

Cons
-
The overall rating sits at 4.0, which means not every visit is flawless – some folks might have had off days with the service or food
-
Prices have crept up a bit over time, so it might not be the cheapest spot for a regular night out, even if it's still reasonable
-
It can get quite busy, especially on weekends or for events, which might mean a wait for tables or that cosy feel turning a tad overwhelming

Excellent meals and service, everyone enjoyed their food, all came out together and there was 15 of us. All of the staff are genuinely friendly and lovely. Also great to go in for drinks as well, always a great atmosphere, recommend so much! Also massive garden and loads of parking, always made to feel welcome, thank you so much!
Pre-booked our first visit here for a quiet weekday lunch and were delighted with the experience. We chose a window table in the spacious dining area where music was audible but not too loud. Being too lazy to walk to the bar, we opted to order via the website which worked well. The drinks appeared within seconds of making the payment. We didn't have to wait long before our mains arrived: generous portions of fish in a tasty crisp batter with perfect crunchy chips and a small portion of peas. The desserts (sticky toffee pudding with custard, chocolate fudge cake with ice cream) were also delicious and of a decent size. It was a most satisfying lunch for a very reasonable price, and served by charming Claire and her team. Very happy to recommend it.
Went for a meal to celebrate my birthday with family.
They were working under usual staff numbers but the level of service was still exceptional.
Food came out piping hot, really flavourful.
Great value for money.
Wide variety on the menu to suit all tastes.
Lovely little pub, only stopped for a couple of drinks so I'm yet to taste the food but the staff were friendly, as were the other customers. Tables were clean and chairs comfortable. There's a beautiful fireplace and a couple of tvs showing a sports channel. They also have a really pretty beer garden, which I bet looks even more lovely in the summer. This pub is dog friendly and has lots of parking at the front, it's also only a few minutes walk to a bus stop and about 10 minutes to the train station!
Haven't been here for so long but thought I'd give it a try as they were doing 30% off mains for a few weeks. It's always been pleasant and the food has been average but the food was outstanding!!!
The prices on food have increased but are still reasonable and happy to pay for decent food which this was!
Staff were really friendly and very approachable. Sitting outside in the sunshine in the beer garden was really lovely. Great seating area. Totally recommend this pub.
