About This Pub
Ah, The Bells – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a proper British outing. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is a real standout; people are going on about how delicious everything is, from the mushrooms on toast to the fruit crumbles, and it's all served up with that flexible touch for groups or those with specific tastes. The service really shines too – it's friendly, efficient, and makes you feel like you're catching up with old mates rather than just popping in for a pint. On the flip side, though, parking's a bit of a lottery, so you might want to factor in some extra time or consider other options if you're driving. And while it's generally open every day, the hours listed are a bit muddled, which could catch you out if you're not careful. Overall, it's a gem of a place that does pub grub proud, but keeping those little niggles in mind will help you have the best experience possible.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely brilliant – reviewers rave about dishes like chicken schnitzel, grilled chicken pappardelle, and apple and raspberry crumble, all described as top-notch and full of flavour.
-
Service is spot on; the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, with mentions of exceptional service from folks like Kiara, making you feel right at home.
-
It's got a welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a casual get-together or even a special occasion like a birthday lunch, with flexible menu options that cater to all ages and preferences.
-
A good selection of drinks to pair with your meal, and it's generally praised as a cosy local spot that's easy to enjoy.
Cons
-
Parking can be a bit unreliable; it's great when you get a spot outside, but it doesn't happen often, so you might end up hunting around.
-
The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent in the listings, which could lead to confusion about when it's actually open, even though it's meant to be daily.
-
With the website throwing up an error, it's not the easiest place to check menus or book ahead online, which might be a minor hassle for planning a visit.

We hired the private room at The Bell’s for a surprise 40th birthday lunch. The menu options were incredibly flexible for a large party, which was refreshing and appreciated since we had older people who wouldn’t have wanted a large set menu. The food was absolutely faultless, service was amazing, and we just had the perfect day. Thank you so much!
Lovely little pub with friendly staff and fab food.
Luckily there was parking outside but I got the impression that doesn't happen too often.
I had the Chicken Schniztel followed by the Fruit Crumble. It was amazing.
I'd happily eat here again.
Great food, good drinks selection and super service at a local pub. What's not to like? The mushrooms on toast is superb.
