About This Pub
You know, I recently checked out the Golden Cross in Slough, and it's one of those hidden gems that feels just right for a relaxed pub experience. The food is top-notch – think fresh salads, perfectly cooked fish and chips, and hearty sirloin that leaves you satisfied without breaking the bank. What really stands out is how welcoming the staff are; they're always on hand with a smile and go out of their way to sort things out, even if there's a small hiccup like a kitchen issue. It's brilliantly placed if you're near the airport, with easy parking, so it's perfect for a pre-flight meal or a casual catch-up. On the flip side, it's not open every day, which could be a nuisance if you're passing through unexpectedly, and the exterior might look a tad worn, but don't let that put you off because inside it's cosy and full of character. Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone after good, honest pub fare and a bit of warmth – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as long as you check the opening times first!

Great value for money, especially for straightforward pub grub that's cooked to perfection.
-
The atmosphere inside is warm and inviting, with a fabulous vibe that makes you want to linger a bit longer.
Cons
-
It's only open five days a week, so you might need to plan around that if you're hoping for a spontaneous stop.

The outside looks a bit dated, which might not grab your attention at first glance.
-
Occasionally, there might be minor hitches like issues with the kitchen, though they still pull through with great service.

The pork loin was lovely, salad was fresh and well seasoned, staff was attentive and sweet. If you're waiting for your flight at Heathrow I'd recommend coming here.. and they have parking too. Glad to have found a lovely pub that's 5min drive from the airport.
Stayed at Hilton for Heathrow. Wanted somewhere close with plain pub grub. This fitted the bill perfectly and more. Looks old from outside but inside very nice. Barman was lovely and the food was excellent. I had the fish and chips, hubby had the sirloin and chips with salad. Cooked perfectly and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. 2 meals & 2 non alcoholic drinks- £28!
A fabulous eatery that served us up a meal that we will remember for a long time. There was plenty of well cooked food, the staff were super friendly, and it had a lovely vibe. It's a pity that we don't live nearby as we would frequent this place quite a lot. Highly recommended.
Very friendly people went above and beyond to make sure i was happy. Chicken wings were lovely food is great value for money next time I'm doing an airport run for someone I'm definitely popping in again
Fantastic pub, lovely atmosphere and wonderful management. They had a problem with their chef, but still offered to cook us some food, which was amazing. Lovely people who do their best to make you feel welcome.
Would highly recommend.
