About This Pub
Ah, The Wheatsheaf – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles from the moment you step inside. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are absolute gems, always up for a chat and making sure everyone's having a good time, which really sets the tone for a proper welcoming atmosphere. The beers are spot on, with mentions of a great pint of Fosters, and the place has this spacious feel both indoors and out, complete with a smashing beer garden that's ideal for catching up with mates on a nice day. It's even dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry friend along, and there's a little play area for the kids, making it a versatile spot for all sorts. On the flip side, though, it's a shame they don't do full meals – just some basic bar snacks – so if you're peckish for something more substantial, you might have to plan ahead or pop to another spot. Still, it's buzzing early on and quiets down later, which could be just right if you're after a laid-back night, but not ideal if you want the party to keep going. Overall, it's a solid choice for us pub lovers looking for good company and a decent drink in a comfortable setting, and with that 4.6 rating, it's clear it's hitting the mark for most folks.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
They've got a great selection of beers, like a solid pint of Fosters, and the atmosphere is spot on for a relaxed evening.
-
Plenty of space both inside and out, with a lovely beer garden that's perfect for sunny days, and it's even dog-friendly which is a bonus.
-
There's a small play area for kids, so it's family-oriented, and the parking is ample which makes popping in a breeze.
Cons
-
They don't serve proper food, just a few bar snacks, so if you're after a full meal, you might need to head elsewhere.
-
It can get busy early in the evening and then quiet down later, which might not suit everyone depending on what you're in the mood for.

1 star on food only as they don't serve food but all round great pub and happy it's my local
This one is our local as it's bar far the closest - really nice looking pub since the refit some time ago & lots of work done outside around Covid time - good beers & nice people (staff & punters alike) small play area for young kids but food is limited to just a few bar snacks
Stopped off here for a quick leg stretch whilst travelling. Dog friendly. Very nice beer garden. Very nice decor. Lovely landlady. Highly recommended by us and the locals (that's how we found the place).
Lovely friendly pub. Had a good laugh with the staff & locals.Watched the band Woodstock on there last night. Excellent music. This is a busy early evening pub, then quietens down by 10.30pm. Looking forward to visiting again.
