About This Pub

Ah, The Wharf – it's one of those cosy spots in Macclesfield that just hits the spot for a proper pint and a chat. I love how they've got this fantastic range of ales on tap, especially the Yorkshire ones, which really stand out and make it a go-to for anyone who appreciates a good brew. The staff are an absolute delight, always up for a bit of banter and making sure everything runs smoothly, which gives the place such a welcoming, homely vibe. Plus, it's easy on the wallet, so you can settle in for the evening without fretting about the bill. On the downside, it's a bit of a climb up the hill to reach it, which might not be ideal if you're not up for the effort, and I've picked up on some talk that the future isn't set in stone, which is a bit gutting because it'd be a loss for the area. Still, it's got that solid, reliable charm that's perfect for a casual meet-up, so I'd say give it a go while you can – you might just find yourself coming back for more.

Pros and Cons

  • Super friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • Inexpensive prices, so you can enjoy a few pints without worrying about the cost.
  • Great location near the train station, making it easy to pop in after a day out or a match.
  • A consistently good vibe with a mix of locals and visitors, perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
Cons
  • It's a bit of an uphill walk to get there, which could be a minor hassle on a rainy day.
  • There's some uncertainty about the pub's future, which is a real shame and might make you want to visit sooner rather than later.
  • The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent, so it's worth double-checking to avoid disappointment.

A great little pub worth the uphill trek to get here ( not too bad really 😁) Some great ales on and a friendly vibe. The staff are always nice and friendly. The future of The Wharf is uncertain and it would be a sad loss for Macc. If you are going to go, go soon.
