About This Pub
Oh, you know, I've got to say, the Snow Goose Cafe Bar in Macclesfield is one of those places that just hits the spot for a proper cosy night out. From what I've seen in the reviews, the staff are absolute gems – always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels looked after, which really adds to the whole experience. The local beers are a highlight; they're serving up some brilliant craft ales that give you that authentic taste of the area, and it's clear folks are chuffed with them. Then there's the atmosphere – picture sinking into a sofa by a log fire on a chilly evening, with maybe a well-behaved dog curled up nearby; it's just dead inviting and puts you in a great mood straight away. They've got evening events too, which sounds like fun if you're up for something a bit more lively. But, to keep it real, the hours can be a bit of a puzzle sometimes, with some info suggesting early closes, so you might need to plan ahead or risk being turned away. And without a website, it's not the easiest to get the lowdown before you go. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for a laid-back drink with mates – I'd pop in if you're nearby, as long as you don't mind it being on the smaller side.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and helpful advice to make you feel right at home.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of local beers and craft ales on tap, perfect for those who fancy something a bit special from the area.
-
The atmosphere is lovely and homely, with cosy sofas, log fires, and a chilled vibe that's just inviting, especially on a cold evening.
-
It's dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out for a walk and fancy a pint without leaving your furry friend outside.
-
They host some great evening events and have a welcoming feel that's ideal for casual meet-ups or even family gatherings.
Cons
-
The operating hours seem a bit inconsistent or limited in some listings, which might mean it's not always open when you'd hope, potentially cutting short your night out.
-
There's no website listed, so it can be tricky to get more details or check what's on offer before you head over.
-
As a smaller boozer, it might feel a tad cosy for larger groups, and the beer selection, while nice, isn't massive, so options could be limited if you're after something specific.

Chilled place with nice local beers. Staff were super friendly and helpful with my deliberations
We absolutely love this place! Every time we walk through the doors, we're greeted with the friendliest smiles and a genuinely welcoming vibe. The staff are the real stars here—so kind, so funny, and just all-around lovely people who make you feel right at home. Whether you're just popping in for a quick drink or staying for the whole night, they always go above and beyond to make the experience fun and relaxed. Great drinks, great atmosphere, and even better people. Can’t recommend it enough!
Great pub with tremendous staff. Family wedding this weekend and couldn't have enjoyed myself more!!
18/11/23:
10/11/23: lovely small boozer, selling craft ale/craft beer. 3 on tap, plus Guinness and a small selection of lager and cider. Food sounded fantastic, but we just had a pint of Sir Philip bitter and Hanging Stone smoked porter from Winkle Brewery. Lovely, friendly service. Dog friendly!
Such a nice bar for a drink. They have some great evening events, some wonderful local beers and beautiful china for tea. The pub is very homely inside, with sofas and log fires, which make it very inviting on a cold winters night. The staff are lovely and the resident dog is very well behaved and a delightful addition. The decor inside is so well done, and they use the wall space to showcase some great local artists!
