About This Pub

Ah, The Waterhouse – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot when you're after a proper good time in Scarborough. From what I've gathered from the buzz around, the staff are absolute gems; think quick smiles, efficient service, and that extra effort that turns a simple drink into a memorable evening. I love how they've got live music going on, especially on weekends – it's got that feel-good energy with a mix of songs that'll have you tapping your feet or even joining in. The place is clean as a whistle, and it's brilliant for watching the footy or just soaking up the inclusive atmosphere, which is spot on for making everyone feel welcome. On the flip side, it's a shame it's not open more than a couple of days a week; you might find yourself planning around that, which isn't ideal if you're spontaneous like me. And while the drinks are nicely priced, getting there early on busy nights is a must to skip the queues. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laugh and a chat, but keep those limited hours in mind if you're popping by.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and professional, always making you feel right at home with their warm service.
  • They've got a cracking atmosphere, especially with live music like that talented singer-guitarist Callum – perfect for a good singalong.
  • It's spotlessly clean, which is a nice touch when you're settling in for a pint.
  • A great spot for catching events like football matches, with multiple screens and staff who get into the spirit of things.
  • They're welcoming to everyone, including the LGBTQ community, creating an inclusive vibe that's hard to beat.
Cons
  • It's only open a couple of days a week, which is a bit of a letdown if you're hoping for a midweek visit.
  • The website seems a bit tricky to access, so you might have to rely on other ways to check what's on.
  • Weekends can get busy with queues, so you'll want to get there early to avoid the hassle.

Joined this bar to watch extra time of England V Switzerland. We used the rear bar with 3 TVs above. The staff at this bar were great. Fast service, in good spirits and also appeared to be enjoying the evening. There were multiple screens on and the football could be seen from anywhere. And after the game they kept the jubilant atmosphere going with a great choice of themed music. They do a mean mini Guinness too. Will definitely call in next time in Scarborough.

They have some great live music especially on a weekend. The atmosphere is friendly & quite accepting towards people of the lgbtq community. Get in early at the weekend to avoid the queues later in the evening.
