About This Pub
Ah, Sanctuary Bar in Scarborough – it's one of those places that really hits the spot if you're after a solid night out with mates. From what I've gathered, the cocktails are a standout; they're expertly made and come with all sorts of tempting options at prices that won't break the bank, like those daily deals that make you feel like you've got a bargain. The staff are proper lovely, always on hand with a smile and quick service, and the overall decor gives off this premium, cosy vibe that's just right for unwinding or ramping up for a party in their dedicated function room. On the flip side, though, it's not all smooth sailing – a few folks have mentioned the bathrooms being a bit messy or lacking basics, which is a shame in an otherwise tidy spot. And while it's generally relaxed, it can feel a tad quiet when you're in the mood for more buzz, or you might get hit with some overly loud music that doesn't quite fit the scene. All in all, it's a worthwhile stop for anyone fancying good drinks and a friendly atmosphere, but just keep those little hiccups in mind so you're prepared.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The cocktails are absolutely brilliant, crafted by their own expert with a fantastic selection like the Pink Gin-tini or Espresso Martini.
-
They've got affordable prices and daily specials, such as two cocktails for £12, making it easy on the wallet.
-
The staff are really friendly and efficient, always polite and quick to serve.
-
The decor and atmosphere are spot on – it's clean, tidy, and has a premium feel that's perfect for a relaxed catch-up or a party.
-
It's got a great function room with its own bar, ideal for get-togethers or celebrations.
Cons
-
The bathrooms can be a bit of a letdown, with issues like no toilet roll or untidiness that spoil the otherwise nice vibe.
-
It might feel too quiet at times, especially on off-peak days, which could make it less lively than you'd hope.
-
The music can be a mixed bag – sometimes it's classical and a tad too blaring in certain areas, which doesn't suit everyone.
-
The food is alright but nothing to write home about; it's decent without being exceptional.

Walked in on a Sunday lunch and was a little suspect on why it's was so quiet. Anyway, quiet is good. Despite sticking to the floor near the bar, the place looked really clean and tidy. Bar man efficient and polite. Went to sit near the kitchen end and was greeted with classical music blaring out, which conflicted with the music playing also in the pub. Not to worry because we sat over by the exit window instead. I had the pulled beef spicy burger and my husband had the Cajun chicken. Food came in good time, looked lovely, hot and tasty. Chips were great and well seasoned. Onion rings were fab. I couldn't find much pulled beef, mostly the cheese, a sauce and jalapenos, but still nice. Both burgers were deal price of two for £15, can't fault 😊
Delicious food & drinks. Would definitely go back. The cocktails are especially good. The decor in the place and the bathrooms are beautiful, the service is fast. Overall a lovely place!
Food was delicous, cocktails were fab and the staff were lovely. However no toilet roll in any of the cubicles and untidy bathrooms let it down, would have been 4/5 stars otherwise.
Nice bar good food and drink plesant staff well worth a visit
Pretty nice little place. Not the most amazing food but wasn't bad, nice decor and atmosphere.
