About This Pub

Ah, Chaplins Bar – it's one of those hidden gems in Scarborough that I've heard great things about from folks who've popped in. From what I've gathered from the buzz around, it's a cosy spot where the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, serving up nice drinks with a smile and keeping things running smoothly. The live bands are a real highlight; they've got some cracking performances that get the energy up and create that perfect pub atmosphere for letting your hair down. It's especially good if you're after a safe, comfortable place for a night out with mates, and the entry fees are pretty reasonable, so you won't feel like you're splashing out too much. On the flip side, it does have its quieter moments, like when it's not a big event night, which might leave you wanting a bit more of that lively crowd. Plus, with doors not opening until 8 PM, it might not suit if you're in the mood for an earlier tipple. All in all, it's a solid choice for a fun evening, but worth checking the timings to make sure it fits your plans – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives really shine through for most visitors.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff at Chaplins Bar are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home with their warm welcomes and quick service.
  • They've got a cracking selection of drinks and some brilliant live bands that really get the atmosphere buzzing, especially on busy nights.
  • It's a safe and comfortable spot for a great night out, with a good mix of people and affordable entry fees that won't break the bank.
Cons
  • It can be a bit quiet at times, particularly if it's not a peak night, so you might not always find that lively crowd you're after.
  • The place doesn't open until 8 PM, which might feel a tad late if you're hoping for an early evening pint or a more relaxed start to your night.
  • There's no website or online presence listed, making it a bit tricky to check what's on or get more details before heading over.

Came here late about 11pm on a Saturday night. There was a cover band that had not long started (bands around here must start late) and was only £2 entry fee. Was a good cover band called Friday something. Place was busy with a good mix of people and service was quick. Empty glasses didnt stay on tables long which is a pleasent surprise. Drinks wise, on draught is pretty much your standard selection you get in most pubs but they do keep some shot drinks in the fridge which is always good. Edit: There was trouble in the street later in the night but not sure which bar they came from, this one or the one across the road.
