About This Pub

Oh, you know, when you step into The Wallaw, it's like wandering into a piece of history – that Art Deco charm from its cinema days is just brilliant, and it's clear why folks rave about it. The prices are spot on for a solid meal and a pint, and the staff are always chipping in with a smile, making it feel like a proper local haunt. From what I've gathered from the buzz around, it's a favourite for its affordable grub and that unique atmosphere, whether you're popping in for breakfast or a relaxed evening. On the downside, being a popular chain spot, it does tend to get a tad crowded, and you might miss out on the more personalised touch of an independent venue, but honestly, that's a small price to pay for such a welcoming experience overall. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit for a good laugh and some wallet-friendly fun.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The stunning Art Deco interior, once a cinema, really transports you back in time and makes for a memorable visit.
  • Incredibly affordable prices on food and drinks, perfect for a casual catch-up without breaking the bank.
  • Friendly staff and top-notch service that always make you feel welcome.
  • A great spot for history buffs, with fascinating elements from its past dotted around the walls.
Cons
  • As it's part of a larger chain, it might not have that bespoke, one-of-a-kind feel you'd get from a smaller independent pub.
  • It can get quite busy at times, which might make it a bit tricky to find a quiet corner for a chat.

Possibly the most impressive of the 200+ Wetherspoons I have visited. It's like a museum celebrating the Art Deco heyday of cinemas, that also sells good beer and food. Would recommend a visit just for the experience.
