About This Pub
Ah, The Volunteer – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper gem in the hustle of London. From what I've gathered chatting about places like this, the food really steals the show; whether it's a fresh Caesar salad or those mouthwatering burgers and chorizo bites, everything seems to hit the mark with flavours that make you forget you're in a pub and not some fancy restaurant. The staff are an absolute delight too, always on hand with a smile and helpful suggestions that make you feel right at home, which is no small feat in a busy spot like Baker Street. On the flip side, it does get crowded, especially during peak hours, so you might find yourself jostling for a seat or waiting a bit longer than you'd like. And let's be honest, with London prices being what they are, it might not be the cheapest option for a regular night out, but for the quality and atmosphere, it's well worth it. Overall, if you're after a genuine, enjoyable pub experience with great grub and a friendly buzz, I'd say give The Volunteer a try – it's got that perfect blend of traditional charm and modern appeal that keeps you coming back.

-
It's got that cosy, welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for a laid-back lunch, post-work catch-up, or even a rainy-day refuge in the heart of London.
-
With its central location on Baker Street and moderate prices, it's a brilliant spot that's easy to pop into without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
It can get pretty busy at times, which might mean a bit of a wait for a table or that cosy spot you were hoping for.
-
Being in central London, the prices, while moderate, might feel a tad steep if you're after something more everyday or budget-friendly.

Had a lovely time at the pub with Georgia and Elizabeen! We tried the Caesar salad and burgers – both were delicious. The salad was fresh and crisp, with just the right amount of dressing, and the burgers were juicy and full of flavor. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service – definitely a spot we’ll visit again!
Hugely recommend this pub. Food is absolutely delicious, service is rapid (in a rush as heading for a train). The sweet chorizo bites in honey(?) were amazing. Also the sourdough, also padrón peppers and buttermilk chicken. Staff really friendly. Will be back for a main meal next time.
I had an amazing experience at The Volunteer Pub, thanks to Dani, our waiter. From the moment we arrived, Dani was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and professional. He made sure we had everything we needed, offering great recommendations and ensuring our drinks were always topped up.
The food was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Dani’s friendly attitude and outstanding service truly made our visit special. It’s rare to find someone so genuinely passionate about customer service, and he went above and beyond to make our evening enjoyable.
If you’re visiting The Volunteer Pub, ask for Dani—you won’t be disappointed! We’ll definitely be back.
We went to the pub after the lecture, when it was pouring rain outside and we wanted to have dinner. I was impressed by the delicious food and the unusually tasty cider with peach and raspberry. I didn't know that food in a pub could be as delicious as in a restaurant! And it was right in the center. The quality is excellent!
This is the 3rd time our lunch club have visited The Volunteer and today was by far the busiest occasion. However, the high quality food came out quickly, the service was smooth and friendly and for a central London pub the prices aren’t too scary. 7 of us had 2 courses plus a couple of baked Camembert to share at the start. Sensible portion sizes plus a couple of V options. What’s not to like.
